This year Karakoram Splitboard Bindings kicked off a one of a kind unique Instagram and video contest – KARAKORAM DREAMLINES. To give their fans and users the chance to showcase their Dreamline – show and tell to the world.
The event was a peer voted process with the finalist being selected and voted by the Karakoram staff. The riding was important, but was not necessarily about the gnarliest line or a month long expedition; it’s more about the story, the connection to the line and the mountains, and the drive to make it a reality.
The overall video winner will become an ambassador for Karakoram for one year and will be outfitted from head to toe with gear from Karakoram and our partners! Both Second and third place will get killer prize packs as well.
Third Place in the Karakoram Dreamlines contest goes to Chris Shook for his video about splitboarding Ymir Peak in Whitewater, BC. Chris has been looking at Ymir Peak for 5 years and finally ripped it on his splitboard. There are so many lines like this that sit above your local resort just waiting to be ridden. Chris’s video about Ymir Peak captures the essence of backyard splitboarding. Thanks for telling your story Chris!

Second Place in the Karakoram Dreamlines Video contest goes to Simon Feigl. He has a slightly different take on what a Dreamline is. Simon broke his back and leg in a snowboarding accident and has chronicled his difficult path back to snowboarding and splitboarding. Despite a 26% permanent disability, Simon is still getting after it. Way to persevere! Keep on dreaming.

First Place in the Karakoram Dreamlines video contest goes to Casey Crangle. Casey recently moved from South Dakota to Utah to follow his dream of living in the mountains and snowboarding. The Wasatch mountains are famous for quality backcountry lines. This was Casey’s first year on a splitboard and it enabled him to knock off a line that he has been staring at from his liftee job at Solitude Resort- Wolverine Cirque.
