Venture Snowboards is proud to announce their new experimental division, the Shape Shack. The goal is to produce small, limited-edition runs where new ideas and creativity are the focus. Venture’s founder, Klemens Branner and legendary rider Johan Olofsson will be teaming up on the project. Look for good things to come!

Silverton, CO – February 3, 2012 – As a company on the leading edge of design and innovation in the snowboard industry, it’s no surprise that Venture Snowboards, based out of Silverton, Colo., is once again pushing the envelope. For the winter 11.12 season Venture is launching the Shape Shack – an experimental division of the company charged with dreaming up new and innovative board shapes.

“The idea is to take a bit of a mad scientist kind of approach, experimenting with designs that might normally be considered too wacky, and then testing those concepts by offering small batch releases to the public,” says Klemens Branner, Venture’s founder and design engineer. Branner will be heading up the effort, with creative input from big mountain legend Johan Olofsson and the product testing team at Silverton Mountain.

Shape Shack boards will be produced in small, limited edition runs and made available to the public through the Venture Webstore. According to Branner, this small batch approach will allow the company to do market research, boost customer involvement, and create innovative new designs simultaneously.

“On the consumer side of things, it gives our customers a meaningful way to get involved with our company by voting with their dollars for the shapes they want to see. And from a retailer perspective, the Shape Shack will help establish the demand for a given shape before adding it to the lineup, giving them confidence when ordering. Everybody wins.”

Because Venture owns its own factory and is located in the mountains, the company is uniquely positioned to bring a new board shape from concept to reality in a short period of time.

“We have the freedom to produce pretty much anything that we can dream up, and then we can walk out the front door and ride it right here in our backyard,” says Branner. “It’s an ideal set up for experimentation, and in the coming years the Shape Shack will take us down that path even more.”

The Shape Shack concept is being launched this February with a late season release of Venture’s first two experimental shapes. The Euphoria pow surfer boasts rocker, reverse sidecut and a swallowtail and is designed to excel when surfed bindingless. Both a solid and split version are available in a single length option of 162 cm. More size options will be available next season when the Euphoria becomes part of Venture’s standard board lineup. The Zelix is a directional twin that’s a cross between the company’s popular Zephyr and Helix models. It is available as a solid board only, in three sizes: 158/25, 162/25 and 163/26. A limited number of these special boards are now available through the company’s Webstore, and are expected to sell out quickly.

Founded in 1999 by the husband and wife team of Klemens and Lisa Branner, Venture is an independent, grassroots manufacturer based in Silverton, Colorado. All of Venture’s boards are handcrafted from scratch in their Colorado factory, with premium materials and meticulous attention to detail. The company pursues a dual mission: to produce superior performance snowboards while minimizing environmental impact. For more information call 970.387.5078 or visit www.venturesnowboards.com.
