I think I would love this board if I had more time on it. I have to agree that the kick turns were super easy. I loved the light weight on the ride down, also..

I was fortunate enough to borrow an Amplid Miligram for one day last season at a splitboard gathering. I was impressed by the light weight of the board but was a bit nervous dropping into some terrain that was a bit intimidating to me to ride on a board that I had no experience with. The conditions were a bit mixed: somewhat “chalk” like snow in the shaded parts of the chute turning to some avy debris heavy snow one we got out into the sun exposed lower slope.

I did not know how firm the snow was before dropping in, so I made the decision to ride with a Whippet in my hand (which always makes me a bit sketched out). If I could do it over, I would have gone without it. Thanks to John Keffler for loaning me this awesome light board !!

    Florian,

I am in the same boat as you sometimes (AIARE Level 1, avy gear, safety minded) . I have some great partners, but can’t always hook up with them..
Drop me a line if you want to get out sometime after the holidays..

hope we have a good season.. it seems about time to start thinking about it.. but it will be a while before it gets worth it to head up IMHO

    But when that time comes…….

So, it looks like the low temps have not been getting below freezing and the snow-pack is likely to wet slide this weekend (June 6-7) so I think I may sit it out.. thoughts?

Ok, did Bierstadt in a whiteout on Sunday. It was not optimal, but I made out OK.
Looking forward to doing some more in June.

I may or may not have time to do this line on Sunday, but have a little time to get out. I may be dumb for trying this, but want to tag the summit of Bierstadt and ride down (only can ride that mountain with good solid snow) and if I di it quick enough, Maybe I can check out the south side of Square top. I was originally planning on coming up the Georgetown side, not Grant, so Square Top probably won’t happen (at least not this weekend)..

    Taylor,

thanks for the update. I, too, am going off on a non-snow camping trip the last week of May, so the 1st weekend of June is when I will be available.. I will post here around that time and maybe when you get back from your bike tour, a possibility will open up?

    have fun !

I did Square Top east face last June and the north face last weekend, but have not done the south face. I love Square top for it’s easy access…

how far down can you ride the south face?

I may actually try to tag Bierstadt this Sunday and I am guessing it won’t take long, I wonder if I would have time to check this south face out ?? although that would be pretty darn ambitious.

I was up on Saturday, as well (on Guanella). snow was descent…

I may be getting up this coming Saturday (5/16) as well, depending on weather and some other things…

I will also be targeting the Angle of Shavano if conditions permit in early June, if anyone wants to join me..
