Whats up boys? I’ve got a trip booked to head out Jan 28-30 and do some splitting out of Silverthorne. Obviously the winter isn’t doing us any favors but I’m hoping for some first hand reports about whether it’s even worth coming out. Assuming we’ll have to keep it mellow which is no big deal and I don’t mind having to drive a ways to get to the goods but I don’t want to waste my time if conditions are terrible everywhere. Hearing lots of talk of unsupportable or complete lack of snowpack at some elevations and aspects. Anyone been out to any of the usual passes or gulches lately and care to comment?
Keep an eye on the SW corner for a miracle. I hope it happens, but it’s thin right now. The 12000 footers visible from town are unrideable, imo. WC has some a lot open but a high tolerance for risk is needed to venture into the fun terrain, lots of forest garbage showing.
Yeah I doubt we make it that far south since we’re flyin into Denver and only staying 2 nights. We were down in your neck of the woods last Feb though. Stayed in South Fork and rode WC for a few days. Loved it.
You should be fine. We had some great powder riding last weekend (and I only hit one rock) and we’re supposed to have a good storm coming this weekend and then something the middle of next week.
Cool, thanks for the info. Has anyone gone out after the refresh and checked out any slopes that slid before the last storm? I noticed on CAIC’s website that Cadillac ripped a few weeks ago. Wonder how the most recent snow bonded to the bed surface or if any of it even stayed put with the N winds that came through after the storm. The slide should have at least wiped out the deeper weak layers.
