My 2nd descent of this route and it remains the most powerful and demanding line of my life.
Here’s your pics (and pics never do it justice);
Lil’ black micro-dot is D-Green steep MFer (my track lookers left of D’s, you cant see shit right there, it feels like your riding straight down a cliff 😯 ) once you make the traverse above those rock bands and the crevassee u move out to negotiate the shrund- D-Green micro-dot in photo here D-Green pops the shrund love this pic; on the left is a close up look at just one of the many reasons this is a no fall zone. D-Green; finishing his epic journey in Valdez; well deserved after many years of dedication; :thumpsup:
whats up for the next mission D? I am fired up for more.
Thanks for sharing the stoke D, what a season :thumpsup: @snowsavage wrote:

Yeah D! Let’s keep the lines rolling BTW: When are you going to share the vid stoke :scratch: Maybe when you come down from the clouds :doobie: :doobie: :guinness: :disco:
so many questions to ask because after looking at this TR I need to get up there while I can still ride. Dont know if I would have the nuts to ride some of that but I wouldnt mind giving it a go
Questions
1- Mr.Green, dont you live in AK ? 2- If you only have a week or so- where do you recommend? 3-Transpotation-what type of rig do you need to rent ? 4-Best month to go? 5-Whats the best place to fly into?
Thanks for all the nice comments and kudos everybody! Now I’d like you all to know that I feel pretty narcistic posting and reading this stuff, but I’m just trying to promote Alaska and not myself, (Like Alaska needs it). and with that being said… I AM THE BOMB aren’t I? Just Kidding.
So yes, I live in Alaska and I love visitors (who are self supportive and not long term). I would recommend flying into Anchorage and renting a RV (so you can be self supportive) sometime in the month of March. Girdwood is a good place if only here for a week… It’s a 30 minute drive from Anchorage as opposed to 5 hours to Valdez. There’s Alyeska resort for down days as well as cat skiing, heli-skiing and great touring around this area, Girdwood, too. As you can see from this report, Valdez Rocks!!! But the weather can be a b**ch and leave you stranded doing nothing while waiting it out, and most of the stuff in this report is sled accessed. As classicauto stated though, there are sled bumps as well as sled rentals up on Thompson Pass/Valdez. And no I did not use Jeremy/ BigMountainTaxi for I have my own sled. Did y’all catch that? BigMoutainTaxi! and oh yeh, bring Verts if you’re going to Valdez ’cause there’s a lot of straight up climbing… Couloir heaven!!!
Thanks for those photos Snowsavage, as well as promoting your own upcoming TR on my TR, haha. I especially love that last photo though, I was excited and it was great to see you. Wish you had been there longer. As for riding right now, Alyeska resort closed early yesterday due to Avalanches! 😯 …not a good sign. We’ll have to wait and see how the mountains heal right now.
Sorry but I don’t think I’ll be putting up any videos jdoneil for I wasn’t doing anything but pooping in them :nononno: and the riding is pretty horrible/embarrassing. That’s why my legs are crossed powderjunkie, nothing to see there.
Thanks again for looking and commenting everyone. Keep up the Stoke!!! and see you here next year? :thatrocks:
