Been almost 2 months since I’ve been on here, look at what I miss. What route are you all thinking on? Stuff on the Ski area side are real mountaineering stuff, nice descent lines. I might be in, if my butt is back in shape then! Anyone wanna sledneck some stuff on the Skagit valley side??

Sulphide doable in a long day this time of year?

I think it depends on how much snow we get this season. Only issue with the sulphide is that it gets pretty flat in sections on the way down.

Does that mean there’s a possibility of some splitboot mountaineering??? paging Dave

Not that I wouldn’t mind going up Shuksan, but I was kidding. I am not really all that familiar, other then staring at it from somewhere else. Not sure I would do it with somebody considering to take O2 tanks anyways…

I’ll be mostly hanging out with Killclimbz if he makes it. So, whatever he is up for, and whoever else joins us. :doobie:

I’m going to pay for the two night stay next week. So I’ll be down for “what eva”. Shuksan would be fun. I just want to sample what’s good when I am there. So if that is the spot, then let’s do it.

It should be, actually. The Sulfide route is super fun for snowboarding. At that time of year though it is sometimes difficult to fully top out on Shuksan because of overhanging and melting cornices.

The avi danger on the Lake Anne side is, as I’ve experienced it, pretty scary most of the winter and even into early-mid spring. Almost got killed a year ago bootpacking out from the Chimneys back to the car at the ski area. At 2:30 am when we were jazzing through the last stretch to the ski area, a huge slide happened right next to us. Didn’t see much because it was pitch black, but the ground was shaking like mad and it sounded like a WW2 Bombing campaign. Freaking scared the hell out of me!!

Nah, there’s nothing more you “need” to do. I have your cash so your good to go. Just get your ass up there and be ready to have a blast.

But, I am working on some other ways to get people organized before hand. I had a really good e-mail exchange with a local rider that has some great ideas. I’m going to be working out the details in the coming weeks so there will be more stuff that you don’t “need” to do.

No worries though you and about 10 other peeps are dialed in!

Oh yeah, I do have a waiver for everyone to sign too. It will be available for download or at the lodge when you check in.

Sweet! Whats the word with Steve(or others)? I am sure we will find some good samplings!

Curious to see if there is going to be a method of group organising.

wow this looks like a killer event! Is there any options for folks who have not yet made the split decision yet (or had the coin to drop on a split, but damn some of the new ones are sooooo temping) to get involved and learn some things? or should we just wait it out till we have some splits to come play?

Signed up last week, stoked on a new mountain. Never been out to Washington, look forward to splitting around Mt. Baker. Thanks everyone involved for putting this together. Shred on.

I’m in … Will likely fly into Seatac on Thursday.

Prolly me as well. Direct flights from OAK drop into SeaTac at 8 PM (alaska) or 9 PM (SWA). When are you thinking Dennis? I might try to spend the night in Bothell with a buddy if he can get Friday off and then we can resort it on Friday. Too early to tell …

Local folks, no problem getting back to SeaTac Sunday night by 7 PM for 8 PM flights back to Kahlifonya? Anyone else thinking about flying out around this time?

Looking like ~$220 to fly if I book right now … wonder if I should wait for another upcoming SWA sale. Maybe the airlines will have some discounts right after the holidays?

Yo. Stoked to see this event goin’ down.

I rode at Baker for seventeen years before moving down to Stevens Pass last season.
This is going to be a great excuse to go back and spend a few days tearin’ up the backcountry.
I’ll be down with a few other Stevens splitters.

I am very familiar with the Baker backcountry, having booted, slowshoed, and splittered up there for many seasons. I’m happy to help show peeps around if need be.
