Okay folks another bored waiting for snow thread…..

I know there was a lot of excitement on the board last spring with TB’s mention of Winterstick introducing splits for 09/10, and Voile showing the faux wood swallow at a trade show. So, I can’t help but wondering what is up with them.

The last update to Winterstick’s site is August 2008 and Voile’s swallow has been awol from their site.

Nitro dropped the Gun for the Slash….
APO looks to be just what I want, but trying to find one is a joke….
The European “boutique” swallowtails look very well done, but again trying to get one (much less afford one) is a joke….
    Prior’s design isn’t quite what I’m looking for either….

Lastly, if I had another Wasatch MOJO I’d gladly turn it over to Monk to work his magic, and I might yet do that….

Def interested in demo-ing the Rome, to check out the rockered nose and setback camber. I think if I were to have one split I’d want to have it tapered pretty significantly to remove some of the side cut. That is really where the Wasatch Mojo shines. It can hold an edge like a carve board, shred crust and crud and, and float like a canoe.

BTW the price on the Rome isn’t bad.

What did they do, copy every swallowtail (and board) made? I see an APO, a Pior (old and new), A Spearhead, A Rossi Judge, An O-Sin 3800 and a few others.
that looks like a picture of my loft when I’m waxing boards.

and what? every other board maker on the market is influenced by something or someone else. They are a japanese brand that have been influenced through the idea of surfing on snow with a owner/designer who has worked on boards from around the early 80’s. They are all hand shaped aswell.

i’ve been pretty interested in trying out one of these myself:

    Rocket Fish

A 145 extra-short board with a deep but elegantly shaped fish tail. The Rocket Fish has a normal stance width of 45cm, gets a sturdy response from the bamboo core and a great flotation from the worlds largest nose width (34.4).

    heres an article about them:

tip to using there site site snurfer… enter the jap version and when you find a page you wanna read change the /jp/ in the address bar to /en/

sorry for the highjacking the thread

Looks like an old Burton, nothing new there.
I’ve got about 25 boards in my loft (7 or 8 swallowtails), and every one is unique, other than looking like a snowboard they’re all different, no copys. why would you want a knockoff ? I don’t see anything new in that line up, I think if it was a US company they’d be talking to lawers about trademark infringement.
I haven’t seen too many good swallowtail options out there lately, There wasn’t anything new last year that interested me enough to buy a new board. have you checked the hardbooter sites? there’s some swallowtailers on the bomberonline site and at least one APO but I don’t think it’s for sale.
I think there’s a picture of my loft somewhere in the quiver thread

😯 It does look a lot like my 83 Burton… But I would still love to have that board

The article shed a lot of light on the maker, and although I still see clear copying in his line up it was refreshing to read of his boarding heritage and know there are still a few around that simply covet the turn. With park, and mountaineering getting most of the exposure, it was cool to see coverage on the aesthetic of cut backs, flow, and surf style being discussed.
