Especially if you have bulletproof ice. Another pdx splitter and I are planning to go up tuesday. Once you get past the cluster of trees on the ridge, the wind starts to pick up. Mountain forecast.com predicted 20mph winds. I can tell you that was straight bs. Right around the weather station, there were some strong gusty winds. Crampons are a must. Along with the wind picking up at higher elevation, the snow transition to hard pack and ice in some spots. On the way down, the snow seemed variable some spots,but softer at lower elevation. We started some small slide between 5 and 6k. There were a few spots with heavy sticky snow to make turns.
