I’d also love to see some more people head to our neck of the woods for another scrubfest. WSR are you done riding your bike yet 😉 September 9, 2005 at 5:54 pm #582988 Ecobrad 2068 Posts Way too early for dates but I’d be stoked on a trip to Bozeman. September 9, 2005 at 7:13 pm #582990 nomad 288 Posts As for the scrubfest, I suggest a rendezvous sometime next month for all the Bozeman splitters to discuss winter plans, after which we can see what all the Wyoming/Utah splitters are into. Ecobrad: We’d love to have you up here! That goes for all the splitters everywhere else too. September 9, 2005 at 8:37 pm #582991 butryon 47 Posts please don’t neglect the idaho splitters (we have very soft feelings), bozeman is close for us. what time of year did the events take place last year? scrubfest was fairly late, like march, wasn’t it? September 9, 2005 at 8:58 pm #582992 dj barney 19 Posts There will definitely be a Voile sponsored Splitfest in the Wasatch again this season. I’ve heard some interest from Couloir in having it here, but no official response yet. Regardless, there will be a Wasatch Splitfest. My personal choice would be for January or February to increase the odds for some legendary Pow. There will also be some key pioneers from splitboarding history in attendance, and it should be a great time for all. I’ve even got some limited space in my home for those going on the cheap. First come first serve, with the original Splitfest Posse getting the first opportunity. Should be AWESOME! September 9, 2005 at 9:10 pm #582993 butryon 47 Posts utah is close, cooler snow in feb.. if you get a season like last year it will be unbelievable snow. i am in. i have never ridden any bc in montana so i hope the scrubfest is a go there. Thanks folks for bringing me out of the woodwork. I have been thinking a bit about the Scrub Fest this year. I thought we would keep it a Wyoming (Togwotee or Teton Pass) thing, but it is totally open for discussion. My wife is expecting on January 14th, so I really need to keep that month open for the family. I think the end of Feb. would be a good time for the Scrub Fest. Let’s open with discussion on what people would like to see. I would really like to hear from the participants last year too. P.S. I am working on a little slide show of this summer’s adventures. The Skillet Glacier (Mt. Moran) got ticked off my list. Keep those eyes posted. Good to be back! September 12, 2005 at 4:26 am #582996 dtimms 28 Posts when is a good time for the montana splitters to get together? the new TGR flick is showing on the 22nd of september in bozeman. any of you all going to that? maybe we could talk after the late show. i have class till 7 that night but i could also me before the showing and then go to the show and get stoked. September 12, 2005 at 3:02 pm #582997 lifelinksplit 282 Posts Congrats WSR! On both the baby and the skillet. As for scrubfest I personally don’t care if it would be in montana or wyoming. Plenty of great stuff to ride either way. I would like to see one thing this year: more people 😆 While I had a great time last year with the people who attended, I think it would be great to meet some more people. i think we need to figure out a location first, but sleeping options are probably a concern for some people. Would we try tenting it again? Are there people who would be opposed to camping? And obviously we would be splitting(ha ha) into smaller groups if we have more people than last year. Just a few initial thoughts. Oh and I think BH has new tires so no donut adventures this year. dtimms- I’m pretty open most of the time after work. Everybody else? Lately get a little booze in me and winter is all I talk about. September 12, 2005 at 3:28 pm #582998 Killclimbz 1165 Posts I am going to try to make it this year. Last year, just wasn’t in the cards for me. September 12, 2005 at 4:09 pm #582999 dave 100 Posts i’m also going to try and make it to scrubfest this year. no, just kidding. i’m not planning on it, but it may happen. there’s too many lines around here that i have to hit. plus, i’m MUCH more into smaller parties. bozone crew- yep, i’m down to meet up and get to know one another. i think it would be nice. no TGR film for me. saving my $$$ for stormshadow…… and L1P, Shanghai Six in November 😉 . the stormshadow film is on a saturday (Oct 1) too, so we could meet up after that a little easier than the thursday night TGR film. plus it’s a local film. not all splitters are, uhm 😕 old enough to get served at a bar either. something to keep in mind. whereever, whenever……. September 12, 2005 at 5:29 pm #583000 nomad 288 Posts Word up WSR! Congrats to the wife and future splitter! Maybe a late February scrubfest would work better this year… not sure though. It might be nice if it didn’t conflict with the Utah fest so we can get down there too. Dave, don’t be resigned to missing the scrubfest – it was fun last year despite the marginal conditions. Splitters unite! September 12, 2005 at 9:07 pm #583001 Wyomingsplit_ride 663 Posts Crew, Thanks for the congrats on the future splitter. I am stoked for sure! 😀 As far as Scrub Fest, it could happen on either Teton or Togwotee Pass. It is up to you all. I feel confident and comfortable putting together tours on either pass. End of February works for me (February 25-26). Let me know who is down for these dates. I saw the mention of the need for a few more people to show up. I agree. Something that would be nice and may help is to have a little sponsorship (I know it goes against the grain of the down and out dirtbag splitboard scrubs but EVERYONE loves Booty). Who could help, guide, show me the way of getting a few sponsors who would like to kick down to the cause? This could help out the event for sure…what about the boss DJ? DJ Barney…could you guys help us a little? As far as rooms and lodging on Togwotee Pass: There are new owners at Lava Mountain Lodge that will be keeping their motel open all winter this year (rooms go for $85 a night) or for the rich splitters, Togwotee Mountain Lodge is only $250 a night. For the hearty, we could camp again. If we did it on Togwotee, we could have slide show at Togwotee Mountain Lodge and maybe do one breakfast there as well. Just a few ideas….please keep kicking the ideas around and help me find some sponsors with booty. September 12, 2005 at 9:12 pm #583002 lifelinksplit 282 Posts not all splitters are, uhm old enough to get served at a bar either. something to keep in mind. whereever, whenever……. I didn’t mean we had to meet at bar when I mentioned my booze induced winter rambling. I’m open for whatever. i’m MUCH more into smaller parties. I have to agree with ya. I was a little hesistant about going in such a large group. However everyone in the group was very conscious about group size/abilities and I believe we were making good decisions. Also when I said more people I kinda figured it would make forming smaller groups that much easier. it was fun last year despite the marginal conditions. Splitters unite! Amen! And this year we’ll have much better snow. September 13, 2005 at 3:24 pm #583003 Killclimbz 1165 Posts Togwotee pass works for me. It’s a bit closer and more economical to for me to make that journey. Especially looking at gas prices these days. Lava Lodge sounds good, though if it is late enough in the season, I am not opposed to camping. My friend has an igloo maker. We were going to experiment with that this winter. Maybe it will be practical to make an igloo city. Rumor has it they are warm. I am not sold yet, but will give it the ‘ol college try this winter on Berthoud Pass. September 13, 2005 at 8:06 pm #583004 fortysix2 112 Posts I’d be up for either pass. I’ve been going to Teton pass for the past 3 years, and I’ve had nothing but good times. Never been to Togwotee. September 13, 2005 at 9:10 pm #583005 Wyomingsplit_ride 663 Posts So far, it looks like Togwotee Pass is the ticket for Scrub Fest. There are many many options on the pass. I am stoked about the possibility of an igloo. Last year, we were supposed to have a wall tent, but it fell through. I will check on that again this year. Let’s keep these ideas churning!
