I might even let you try them out.Greenish tacoma w/ topper, I’ll be rolling solo, light blue jkt and tight black eider pants 😉 😉 January 12, 2008 at 11:26 pm #600827 Will 377 PostsActually, to be strong enough I think you’d have to tote a car battery in your backpack, but it’s all in the name of performance. 😉In other news, I’ve got about 20 pairs of complete bindings left, more info here: http://sparkrandd.typepad.com/the_spark_rd_blog/I’ve notified the next 40 people in line via email, hopefully I’m not ending up in your junkmail. Here’s the current waiting list: http://sparkrandd.typepad.com/the_spark_rd_blog/waiting-list.htmlI hope you’re all out splittin’ today. I’m at work, but only because I’ll be off exploring with lewmt, dentalflosstycoon, nomad, telegirl, and some other stragglers later next week. You mean I can use that the electromagnetically keep all my binding hardware in place? Sweet! January 13, 2008 at 7:28 pm #600830 fustercluck 668 PostsHoly s@#t! I made it to #1! Unfortunately, a broken fibula will keep me off my board for a few weeks, and med bills need to be paid. Maybe I’ll get some for some epic spring tours I’m hoping to get in. I’ve been jonesing to try the sparks for a while, and now that I see all the positive feedback, I’m jonesing even more. January 20, 2008 at 1:47 am #600832 BastrdSonOfElvis 80 PostsTook my split out with ignitions on its maiden voyage today. I can’t offer a comparison as today was the first time I’ve been on a split, but I can offer a comparison of someone with no split experience on a split to a solid board: no difference. Conditions were soft so I’m sure mileage varies with ice/crust/crud maybe even corn. But riding that board (S 68) with those bindings…just like riding pow on my baron except no shoes on my back.It was rad. Splits are coolest. Your stoked. Next season?I’m pretty far down the list (106 from 141 though: I’m getting there!), should I still be looking for Bent Metals? I’ve seen plenty of Rides, so it got me thinking.Cheers,Ed February 5, 2008 at 1:12 am #600835 stomppow 150 PostsEd, you don’t have to get Bent Metals, the kit you order from Will has everything you need.I just got mine. YeeeeEEEaa, buttery smooth on the voile pucks right out of the box, massive improvement, mainly in board/binding connection, attachment and pin system, as well as the highback quick adjust… can’t wait to ride’em, there was a little bonus item in there too 😉 yah! February 5, 2008 at 2:29 am #600836 shredgnar 643 PostsWill,I just thought I would point out that you just shipped me pads in a padded envelope. Did you think they would break in the mail? 😆 At least there wasn’t any duct tape this time 😉Just giving you a hard time again bud, thanks for the pads.Mike February 5, 2008 at 6:24 pm #600837 BastrdSonOfElvis 80 PostsIf anybody is on the list and doesn’t want to wait, I’m selling a pair of last year’s bent metal missionary binders that I don’t need. They are brand spankin new. You can buy these and buy Will’s baseplates which I think he has a surplus of, right Will? The binders are silver and the straps are a little different than this years. They’re yours for $110, about $40 off. Pick up along 50 in CO or pay for shipping. They even come in Will’s famous duck tape box! February 5, 2008 at 6:46 pm #600838 Will 377 PostsNegatory BSOE, I’m out of baseplates right now. More are on the way from my sheetmetal guys. I’ll start a new thread when the new ones are coming off the line. February 5, 2008 at 7:31 pm #600839 SanFrantastico 1514 PostsCongrats, Will… that rules!Putting the poo in swimming pool since 1968. February 6, 2008 at 6:50 pm #600840 B-P 134 Postssaw a pic in another thread of these mounted up on a pair of drakes. i know it would take you a TON of effort to check the fitment on every binding out there, but do these baseplates generally fit most other binders? Maybe I’ll try putting different pucks on.Are most people using well-seasoned pucks for easy out-of-the-box fit with Sparks? How much sanding have people with new pucks been having to do?I have new pucks and have sanded the heck out of them. Both the top, sides, and bottom of the ‘slider’ area. I can finally slide the binders most of the way on with excessive force. To get them off I’ve had to sit with the board flat on the floor, shoes on top holding the board flat to the floor, and straining while pulling with both hands and entire upper body. Whew! 😡 The pucks are aligned and the Voile tracks go on and off easily. Guess I’ll keep sanding away…I also noted that the bottom rivets on the binders run on the topsheet. I put a strip of duct tape on the board to protect it (new Mojo 166) when sanding and the rivet heads have been tearing the tape. Guessing they should be that close (?). I do have the gaskets under the pucks.Thanks. February 7, 2008 at 5:56 am #600843 BastrdSonOfElvis 80 PostsBrand new pucks, just need a little elbow greese. Haven’t done any sanding…I like the tight fit. February 7, 2008 at 2:59 pm #600844 Will 377 PostsB-P: I would say that in general they won’t fit most bindings, there’s quite a variety of mounting hole patterns on the heelcups. I can send you a pdf with the hole pattern if you want to check it against your binders, send an email to will@sparkrandd.com.radam: Hmmm. Do you think it’s the rivets rubbing on the top sheet that’s causing the tight fit, or how the binding grips the pucks? If it’s the rivets you can shave a little off with a file, I’d only do that if one has a high point sticking up. If it’s the track gripping the pucks sanding the pucks is the only fix that’s easy to do. You might want to use a sanding block to ensure that you’re sanding them flat. Glad to hear you have the gaskets in place. If you’re still having trouble email me some pics and we’ll get it figured out. February 8, 2008 at 2:55 am #600845 stomppow 150 Postsradam, sounds like you might have installed the two pucks a little out of line… try loosening both the pucks on one ski, but keeping the other 2 pucks tight, and installing the bindings. gently slide the bindings off and then tighten the loose pucks in their perfect positionSometimes even just the action of screwing in one screw completely while the other is loose can rotate the puck slightly out of line. Try tightening the screws together with single turns each until they’re both tight.also you can lube’er up a tiny bit Viewing 20 posts - 101 through 120 (of 147 total) ← 1 2 3 … 5 6 7 8 →The topic ‘Spark R&D now in Broduction, official preorder list’ is closed to new replies.
