I wish the Edison did the same but it does not look like it.Karakoram is halfway there. I’m just waiting from when you can go from tour to ride mode without taking the binding of. If edison comes out with a heel lock that’s the way I’ll go, otherwise I’m going Karakoram. June 28, 2012 at 4:50 pm #648245 JIn Kazama 46 PostsI just sold my 2012 burners – I’ve been pretty happy with them (beside the bent LT pin while touring on hard pack with crampons) and I was going to go for the karakorams until I talked to a the few people who had the system this year and tried one for 2 days…On paper, the system looked great, a real splitboard interface from scratch, it sounded light but as every new system, it has its drawbacks, parts breaking, not as comfortable as the sparks or voile bindings…Then I heard of the spark edisson which look promising…Then I remembered the beginning of spark, fuse bindings breaking, low quality straps etc.This year, I just wanna be able to use my splitboard without fearing a problem because of a new, untested system… I guess I’ll wait one more season, until then I’m going with the 2013 burners… June 28, 2012 at 8:03 pm #648246 barrows 1490 Posts @wasatchfreeride84093 wrote:I wonder if they will sell an edison upgrade kit? like just the “pucks’ (or what ever they should be called) and the baseplates to the bindings…I just bought blazes this year and I dont want to break the bankI suspect that you will do better financially by purchasing a complete Edison set up, and then selling your Blazes on the used market (unless you have trashed them). The Blaze is still a really good binding, and selling it complete with a set of pucks should get you some decent money. I suspect much of the cost of the Edison is in the baseplates and “pucks/interface plate”. I’m all for many generations of prototypes and getting it under the feet of lots of picky test riders.
