I’m new to the split scene and want to know if anybody can let know what I should be looking for in a soft boot. I have a credit at Solomon due to a defect in my old boots and would like to know which Solomon soft boots will work best. Peace

I use the Salamon malamutes and likem a bunch. Most comfortable boot I’ve ever worn and the lacing system (although some have had durability issues) keeps the boots tight.

I use Malamutes also but have trouble with the lock on the laces, I broke something else last year also, but I can’t remember what it was, but it wasn’t that big of a deal. Had a pair of Synapse’s before that, not as stiff, but held up well.

I had major problems with Salomon boots. I broke the laces twice and ripped a couple eyelets out. They also made the tops of my feet go numb for 4 months. I have boot problems though and have yet to find a boot that lasts a whole season.

I like my Malamutes a lot also, they do have issues with the lace eyelet deals. The break off real easy especially when riding sleds.

I switched from hardboots to softboots last year, and I use the Malamutes. Great boot for me. They are very comfortable, no heel lift, great flex, and stiff enough coming from the hardboots.

However, the lace system does give me some concern. I’ve not had any problems yet, other than the liner lace breaking, but I know some day something will happen. But, that’s part of the deal. That’s why I carry duct tape, wire, leatherman, and a headlamp.
