I started up the trail head at about 11:15am and made it to the snow about 2 hours. I did not hike up to emerald lake like the other people I saw with snowboards. I would have needed an earlier start. Anyway I skied a fair sized patch(300 feet) on the rock field before the final steep part up to the lake. The snow was really hard with an inch of soft stuff on top. I am thinking of heading back next week to hit the area higher up.Got a joy-o-meter of 19% 300 feet skied to 1590 climbed over 2 miles. learning the meaning of fear The patch I boarded. Glad to see that the JOM is catching on.
