December 6, 2007 at 4:32 pm #600132 TEX 2486 Posts This is looking better and better. http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/forecast/MapClick.php?site=rev&smap=1&textField1=37.650597&textField2=-119.036629 Maybe a chance to hit up some couloirs with snow already in them. Hikes in may be long but I think this is it. San Frantastico…what are you doing this weekend??? December 6, 2007 at 6:32 pm #600133 SanFrantastico 1514 Posts Dood! I’m riding my snowboard this weekend!! (Beyond that I don’t really have plans yet. Prolly around Carson Pass somewhere. Where are you guys headed??) Putting the poo in swimming pool since 1968. I was mountain biking at 9,000 feet last weekend and there wasn’t a drop of snow…not even in the shade. Hopefully I’m being to conservative but I’m hoping this storm provides a base for the next storm. Please tell me I’m stupid and should pack my shit. December 6, 2007 at 7:05 pm #600135 powderjunkie 1669 Posts don’t get your hopes up and bring the rock board. SF – do you like my signature. 😀 December 6, 2007 at 7:15 pm #600136 mtnrider 740 Posts This isn’t the weekend. We’ll need at least another storm. Unless…you’re near Cooke City or Togwotee and have a sled. ugh… PJ…nice sig. I’ve been involved in an accident 1x at a resort out of 100’s of days. I was hit from behind by a skier, whom also was a ski instructor at that mtn. December 6, 2007 at 7:22 pm #600137 SanFrantastico 1514 Posts @Ecobrad wrote: Are you kidding? Eco – I think it will be bony as hell since the base prior to this was just wet rocks. But I’m hoping to get out for a long skin/hike for fun and if I find enough snow in some crack somewhere maybe I’ll even strap in. I wouldn’t recommend pulling a lot of strings for it, but if you head up there lets meet up. PJ – 😛 😛 😛 – Who would say such a thing?? Putting the poo in swimming pool since 1968. December 6, 2007 at 7:28 pm #600138 TEX 2486 Posts mtnrider….I dont have or need a sled. Im hoping for something like Bloody which does have some snow will now have enough to ride. If nothing else I can follow Dutchmarc around Mammoth Groomers and dail in my helmet cam. But this storm looks much more promising than the one that came in Early november and people did tour the crest on that one. Im sure it will be a long hike to the goods in snow that aint dep enough to skin but Im with Sanfrantastico. There has to be a crak somewhere with enough snow already as a base. December 6, 2007 at 7:39 pm #600139 powderjunkie 1669 Posts It would be nice to get out the stretch the legs. I’ll be updated my signature as I find new gems over there. 😀 Any of you gonna be in Mammoth over new years. Its an option for us and we’re looking into RV campgrounds to stay at. May go north instead though, but haven’t been to Mammoth that many times. It’ll probably suck but it’ll be fun just being in the snow. Putting the poo in swimming pool since 1968. December 6, 2007 at 8:51 pm #600141 ReformedSkier 9 Posts the kirkwood webcam is at least showing all white now, instead of a white ribbon of death on top of some brown grass… it might be okay for a tour this weekend – it’s supposed to be really thick, wet snow. December 6, 2007 at 10:05 pm #600142 BGnight 1382 Posts I’m stoked for the snow, but lol at riding backcountry w/ <2' on a base of nothing. I will be in Mammoth around new year for about 4 days ! Keep me posted if you guys head there and see if we can hookup. Hopefully weather forecast from mthsnowman is right ! Grtx DM From http://www.mammoth-snowman.com The Weather Guy’s Snow Fall Forecast & Outlook! A few rain showers today, then fair Wednesday, followed by the first decent storm of the season Thursday night with snow, heavy at times, lasting through Saturday. Up to 20″ is possible across the powder fields with about 15″ expected at the Main Lodge/Sesame snow course from the storm. Cold temperatures will then persist into Monday. The next chance for snow would be on late Thursday and Friday of next week. The super long range progs are saying the frequency of storms will start to increase during the last half of December. !!!! Yeah no doubt… it’s a matter of desperation and bringing the right attitude. I had some pretty good fun once or twice despite crap conditions last season. Putting the poo in swimming pool since 1968. December 6, 2007 at 11:12 pm #600145 mtnrider 740 Posts I’ll keep my fingers crossed for no blown out edges. Of course you don’t need a sled Tex, but you don’t really need a boat either now do ya 😆 I thought I remember you mentioning originally getting the boat to access further out surf. Same deal w/ the sled. Just give quicker access to the higher elevations so you could possibly be splitting faster. Besides, it would be more fun for me to have some friends to sled w/ too. I do like power sports though. December 6, 2007 at 11:16 pm #600146 TEX 2486 Posts Oh no Mtnrider…not baggin on you. I wish I had one. But Im so ready at this point I dont think I even need snow. I’m with you on that. Mine is for sale at the end of the season. We’ll have some fun, once the base builds up a tad. I’m trying to get my hands on a nice tent like those UT crew had last season. They’re expensive though. The wood stove would be 1st class too. Viewing 20 posts - 1 through 20 (of 31 total) 1 2 → You must be logged in to reply to this topic.
