    I’ll chip in $20, just let me know when/where to send.

    I am so stoked on mine, I can’t imagine having all my anticipation going unfulfilled.

    I sent keffler a message about this. HFT hangs out with him frequently, I am sure they have talked. Hopefully there is something that can be worked out.

    Sometimes these things happens and then it is obvious afterward what you need to do to mitigate it.

    Really cool you guys are pitching in for Dan. The bad news is I don’t have any bindings left to sell him, the good news is I’m doing some prototyping so I’m going to squeeze in a pair for him, but they will not be ready until Feb and will give him all my margin as a discount (not much but it’s my best).

    Shipping has been a pain for me to figure out. Most people want the cheapest route possible which I understand. If everything goes right, happy days, but as you know, it doesn’t always go right. However, this is a pretty unique case and only way to avoid it is to make someone sign for it. I guess I need to make this the default? I figured most people work during the day and would have to sign the paper notice left on the door so it would end up being the same thing, package left on the porch next delivery.

    If you want to pitch in, send me an email (phantomsbb “AT” gmail dot com) and I’ll send you some PayPal info. 100% of your bad ass bro cash will go directly to his bindings promise, Scouts Honor

    I will also be happy to contribute $20 to the cause.

    On a related note, I am more than happy to pay the additional cost for UPS delivery versus USPS. I haven’t had the greatest luck with USPS—and the USPS tracking interface has been beyond bad. I have seen some recent improvement in both USPS deliveries and their tracking interface—-but I am always a bit uneasy when something is being shipped to me via USPS.

    I ship often for business with USPS, and find it to be better than UPS. With Priority Mail you can request a signature, and that is going to be very secure. Best is shipping to a PO box where no one can get the package but you. Insure the package, and request a signature, and there is very little which can go wrong. The same problem will happen with UPS/FedEx as they also routinely leave packages within sight of the road (called “driver release”). I would still file a claim with USPS and claim that their status of “delivered” is in error.
    Do you have a postal box on the street which they delivered the package to, where does your regular mail get delivered?

    Guys, I am overwhelmed.

    To do that for some norwegian guy you never met?

    I am at a loss for words, and I think you even made my girlfriend shed a tear when I told her about this.

    She thinks I spend too much time on here…and she definitely thinks I am nuts to have bought (what she considers home made) snowboard bindings for $1000 from a guy in Colorado I “met” through an internet forum!

    With regard to some of your questions I guess I should clarify that I had John send them to my brother in law, who lives and works in SF – so that he could take them back over for me.

    To have them shipped directly here would have added $400-500 to the total. I have had several other items shipped to him that arrived at his flat as they should, so I didn’t think twice about doing it again. The expensive option doesn’t sound too bad now though.

    @killclimbz wrote:

    So basically they delivered them to someone and they signed for it? Or was this a dropped off package that some asshole took?

    I dont think a signature was required, so possibly someone just took it.

    @summersgone wrote:

    Insurance doesn’t matter? What is insurance for then?

    No insurance from usps (since its delivered according to their standards). I submitted a complaint online but all I heard back was an email asking me to fill out a survey to “rate your recent experience” …

    @jason4 wrote:

    Can you claim it on homeowners or renters insurance?

    The company I have my homeowners insurance with basically just laughed at me…

    @kadydid_k wrote:

    It turned out that the company she ordered it from sent it to an old address that they had saved on her profile from years ago. Could something like this have happened?

    Checked and double checked the adress.

    @spankthepow wrote:

    I imagine they left it on your doorstep correct? But I gotta ask, why did you/they ship USPS instead of UPS/FedEx?

    Not my decision, but like John says further down this thread, difficult for him to make a choice that suits everyone. In retrospect ofcourse, signature required for a high value package may be well worth the price.

    @rughty wrote:

    It happened the mail guy delivered it next door!

    I have been thinking the same, but I have no means of checking!

    Did you call the postmaster general in your area? Dont stop with your local postal office, notch it up.

    How can I get in touch with the postmaster general for that postcode? Through USPS.com all I can get is online form and a general customer service phone number.

    I hope it was a splitboarder that took them and we might have a change of seeing them. Most likely it was some punk that took it, opened it, didn’t know what the fuck it was, and tossed it somewhere.
    I hope a miracle happens and you get reunited. what a waste of money on your part and a lot of time and money and johns. such a shame :nononno:

    I also think that if anyone took it, they wouldn’t have a clue what it could be for and just toss it.

    If any of you against all odds should meet a splitboarder trying to score some bails for their orange/red phantom setup, then please make him aware of my predicament.

    Like you say, my money is one thing – the huge effort and work John has put in is in a different league.

    Yeah I feel like the kid santa forgot after waiting for so long. Was out on my F2/Voile setup this weekend though – and I still love splitboarding 🙂

    Thanks John – I really appreciate it. Like everyone here, I know the amount of work you have put in so cutting the little return you get means alot. If there is anything I could do for you in return from my part of the world, then please let me know.

    You will have to go to your post office in person. ( well, not the one in Norway the one your brother-in -law lives at)

    ask to speak to the post master. That will be the post mater for that office. If you dont get any satisfaction there ask for that ppersons regional post master.

    Oh, and I got 20 bucks to chip in too.

    I am confused as to where your Brother in Law gets his mail? Typically in the US, in the case of an apartment building, there would be a sealed postal box, which would only be accessible by the postman, and the recipient. They would not leave packages, especially insured ones, outside someone’s door?
    In the case of a package too large to fit in a postal box, it would go to a mail room, not left in a public area where someone else could take it, especially in the case of insured packages. USPS insured packages have a special sticker on them, so the postman knows the insured value.

    That’s how things work over here too, so I am really surprised this could happen. Like I mentioned I have had other packages delivered which would have been of similar size which were delivered fine.

    I got in touch with the building manager who has put up posters and sent emails and talked personally to people at nearby apartments or with similar numbers. If there was a mail room in the building I guess she would have checked there first.

    Still not heard anything back from USPS regarding the complaint I put in :thumbsdown: But they have asked me twice to rate the experience, so I guess they just closed the case.
