So, if I decided to switch the old forum back on….it will be just as we left it. Meaning, none of the posts on the new forum since then will be moved over.
I would like to see the current format last through this season at least, then put it to a vote if needed. I think the stoke will return when it starts to snow more regularly. The heart of split season has yet to arrive, and my optimism for February and beyond has not waned. Thanks
I think the new site has more potential than we see now. I wouldn’t give up on it just yet. After watching the dismal forecasts and weather models with no positive outlook for the foreseeable future, I’d be surprised if any of the forums would look anything other than like what they do in the off season.
I am not a huge contributor to this sight but often log in to see whats going on. I have been trying to convince friends to visit the sight more often to help keep it alive. Most if not all have been turned off by the new format including myself. I agree that a lot of forums are slow right now but there are some that are doing very well. I personally would vote to go back to the old format and know that in my little group I am not alone.
Ps I appreciate all your hard work and hope this sight stays active whatever you decide to do.
I’m fine with it. I wouldn’t abandon it yet. It will evolve and gain more functionality over time. As an engineer, I have noticed that my customer demographic is rabidly resistant to change, and are creatures of habit. But they get used to the new or changed products and end up loving them in the end.
@bcrider: what do the stats say? Are there fewer people using the forum now? I know personally the new format is challenging for me and I feel like I am posting less than I used to. Would be interesting to know if there has been an actual change in the #s of people posting since the changeover, or just perception.
@Jefe009 top right corner where it says Reply Quote #777806. It should have ‘Edit’ in front on your own posts.
There is also a checkbox when you do edit, that says ‘Show edit history’ or something like that, which when you un-check it hides those edit notes below the post.
After much research, experimentation and consideration, I have decided adulthood is not for me. Thank you for the opportunity.
my 2cents worth I prob should have posted under this topic …. this is more from a technical stand point why getting off the old phpbb platform makes sense to me, its debatable of course but this is probably some background into what lead Chris down this path…….
I miss the “view new posts” button. Browsing all the forums for new stuff is a pain in the ass, clicking one button to review all the new posts was my go to.
