Part of me thinks we don’t need it and can continue to use the general forum. The other part of me thinks it might be nice to have a forum devoted to random stuff.
Considering that there are dedicated forums for the reviews of boards, boots and bindings, and there aren’t that many reviews… one more forum for gear wouldn’t hurt.
I think a gear forum would help reduce all the mods, conversions and DIY topics that repeat.
I find there are plenty of general news, weather and non-splitboard topics that would make up the general talk forum.
I vote Nay. I dont think theirs enough traffic to devote another forum. I pretty much just check this one and TR’s. We should concentrate all the feedback, comments, etc…. to this one. But i guess if it just takes pushing a button to make another forum then knock yourself out. 😆
I think it would make it easier to dig out all the mods and reviews. There would probably be a bunch of running threads on backpacks and stuff that never go away because there’s not that much traffic there. Maybe need is too stong of a word, though. Yeah – it would be paradise for yoda. 😀
While gears mods don’t seem to be as important as they did a few years ago (mfgs are doing a better job), there are still a number of great threads buried in the main forum. I’m not crazy about a backpack or “accessories” forum per say but i do see some value in a Mod forum.
Does anyone want to work their way through the main forum and identify threads we should move to the Mod forum? It would be less overwhelming if the job was split up into 10 page chunks and taken on by more than one person. Anyone interested?
If so, all I need is the url address of said threads and I can move them.
There is a chance I’ll buy into the Random Gear need too so if you see other threads you think we should move you can start a separate list as well.
I am currently in the market for new goggles, backpack, gloves, and possibly a helmet this year. Every brand website I go to tells me that their gear is the best. An accessories forum is a simple way to post personal testimonials of people’s favorite gear.
A simple question like “Oakley Crowbar vs. Smith Prodigy?” does not fit into the three current gear categories, but I don’t think it belongs in general talk either.
