I’ve been hoping to find a review of it somewhere. Burton advertises that it has some taper. My Kyber obviously is tapered which is awsome for powder, but can suck in other conditions. I don’t really want another super tapered board since I have that covered. I think Burton used to compare the S-Series to the Custom model. Is that still true? Is there much taper? Gracias!Putting the poo in swimming pool since 1968. August 25, 2006 at 9:33 pm #590034 bcrider 4150 PostsMy 170 S-Series is from 04/05 so it has the burton interface and no taper. My 162 (go to board for all conditions) has about 7mm of taper (from memory), and our Khybers have about 20mm (depending on size). I love the Khyber/Fish shapes for low to medium angle powder but once the angle gets steeper I prefer a board with less sidecut. The 162 with 7mm gives it just enough taper to help with turn initiation and float. Some folks like no taper and barely any sidecut too. Mix it up and see what works best for you. You can borrow a board anytime. 🙂 August 25, 2006 at 11:21 pm #590035 SanFrantastico 1514 PostsI might just take you up on that sometime! Thanks for info on the S-Series. With the big taper, the Kyber wants to turn tail first really bad in grippy snow or when traversing steep angle slopes. Not so good. I’m trying to envision the right board to round out my quiver. Nice job with your bases by the way… I thought the 170 was new!Putting the poo in swimming pool since 1968. August 26, 2006 at 12:44 am #590036 Splitfire 327 PostsDo you think a size 13 would ride on the S-series 162? Its a pretty wide board, aint it? I think it should but i was just curious to hear another opinions. I have a Voile Mtn gun 171,its wide enough. I’d like a lil shorter split for those not so powder days. Any thoughts? S-series waist width-25.4, voile is like 25.6. Thats hardly a difference, right? Just wondering because you listed Burton *165* in your list… and I know from ’04 and earlier they came in 165 lengths cuz that’s what I have. I’m just wondering if the taper is something that was new for this 162 design, or if the older ones also had some taper and I just didn’t know about it… @Splitfire wrote:Do you think a size 13 would ride on the S-series 162? Dunno, but the split interface does add some height so that gives you a little more room to play with… August 26, 2006 at 5:07 am #590039 bcrider 4150 Posts @jimw wrote:What is the 162? Superb bcrider.I like how the backpacks are aligned in order of pack size, the boards are equally spaced and aligned in order of length.Your nuts and bolts drawers on the work bench are the way to go when you need to find a t-nut or screw quickly and efficiently. If I can make one suggestion: you should align your paint cans according to color and make sure the labels are directed outwardly for efficient identification.
