I’m Pretty sure BS is throwing together a full TR but until then I finally found time to edit the first video.
It was my plan all year to go glacier camping around Haines for 2 weeks in April, and Ben Starkey had signed up as a partner. Due to a persistent onshore flow, we pulled the plug and went to Thompson pass with hopes of some better weather due to time constraints, and an unusually warm winter.
This was both of our first times in Alaska. With hopes to ride the lined of our lives, and climb them with our own two feet Thompson pass sure delivered. This is the first two days of two weeks that we were there. We went into the Dimond arena and rode 3 couloirs on the staircase cirque and Zell’s line a NW ramp off of Mt Dimond pioneered by Jim Zellers. The line is so exposed that helicopters won’t land it because it breaks protocol for the guides being able to stop in a safe zone.
Riding and footage by Saign Charlestein and Ben Starkey
A big thanks to snowsavage for the constant beta, and eventually coming to shred
