I’m not talking about the Free 2.0, but the older ones. Just wondering how they compare to CSD or BD 100% nylon skins because I have a chance to grab a pair on the cheap. I’ve been happy with my CSD so if the Pomocas are similar, I’ll go with them. Thanks in advance. Go that way really fast. If something gets in your way, turn. They’re light, which is nice, but it seems like a significant part of the weight reduction is a very light application of glue. I reglued them after a season and when i went to scrape off the old glue there was nothing to come off.Im not sure if theres much difference between the nylon in each producers skins but for glue i’d say #1 is Coltex, next best is Black Diamond, as far as i can tell. Ive used quite a few brands but not CSD.never summer snowboards phantom splitboard bindings dynafit touring atomic boots January 3, 2018 at 8:10 am #814943 powhound84 95 PostsCool, thanks for the info. I ended up talking to a few people who said the mix and mohair Pomocas are awesome but the nylon suck. Decided not to go that route. Now it’s down to another pair of CSD or the backcountry branded G3 Alpinist. I know G3 had issues with their glue in the past but it seems like every company has. Can anyone comment on the most recent version of the G3 Alpinist and/or the backcountry.com version? I’ve never used tail clips but it seems like it would be a nice addition. Plus, they are on sale 🙂 Go that way really fast. If something gets in your way, turn. Have been happy with my first set from them so why not roll with ’em again, right? Go that way really fast. If something gets in your way, turn. Also the High traction has a rather mediocre hold, considering the reduction of glide it has. My previous BD Ascension had similar amounts of glide, but could hold much more reliably. I haven’t had any problems with the glue so far. I’ve been using skin savers with them which I think G3 recommends. Neil McNab also used (uses?) G3 skins and didn’t mention any issues (link). My only problem with the G3 skins is the tail clip but that’s due to using a Jones board – I’d like a tail clip with the notch but don’t want to pony up $200-250 for the Jones skins just to get that. Might be possible to MacGayver a solution (pun intended). Difficulty would be finding a clip that will work, but some MacG-ing on a voile strap clip might do it. Viewing 7 posts - 1 through 7 (of 7 total)You must be logged in to reply to this topic.
