Always done either the Silver Couloir or the East couloir and really had no interest in going back up that mountain again for a while. Then, a few weeks ago when we were up on Red Mountain, we spotted a line that neither of us had seen before. From Red, it looked like it would go all the way but there’s only one way to find out for sure. I planned on having to hike out if it didn’t pan out. From the top And the final exit: Turned out that she went all the way. Best part was, I counted about 4 separate chokes that you pass through on the way down. The snow was mostly good and the chute was steep. A few icy spots to make it interesting, especially when you are headed into a choke. I estimate than it runs about 2500′, a little shorter than the silver but much more entertaining in my opinion. BTW I guess I shouldn’t even post this TR here because I used Verts to send it and not my split. 😉 April 11, 2011 at 12:53 am #639234 SickSplitty 32 Posts Wow, that is some gnarly shit. You my friend have some serious balls. If that baby slides your going to be in the choker!! Nice pics. 😀 April 11, 2011 at 2:55 am #639235 shredgnar 643 Posts @sicksplitty wrote: Wow, that is some gnarly shit. You my friend have some serious balls. NW facing (gets late day sun if at all) 4. get up early 5. wind keeps the temps down Many other variables but Couloir season in CO is quite predictable if you know how to read it.
