Wake me up when the mtb trails are dry… January 20, 2014 at 8:30 pm #671429 802smuggler 369 PostsWell we Nickle and dimed that foot this past week. Cold snap should set things up for the next one although it’s gonna be windy. Greens went off last night with some great Champlain pow. January 21, 2014 at 12:20 am #671430 rightsider 150 PostsYup! This morning was definitely the best riding I’ve had this year. Much needed. Mellowed out my twitch a little! January 22, 2014 at 3:15 pm #671431 802smuggler 369 PostsI got out for a little reckon yesterday. Last week’s squalls produced the best the further you headed north with Mansfield up through Jay getting the biggest totals. In Bolton Valley yesterday, conditions were a bit lean for me, especially under 2500′. With two systems setting up nicely for this weekend, I’m feeling pretty good about things to come. January 23, 2014 at 7:10 pm #671432 802smuggler 369 PostsGot out again yesterday. Finally after weeks of inverted temps, it’s apparent that elevation is holding the goods. Went higher than the day before and found the snow was exceptionally deeper. Still watching this weekend. January 24, 2014 at 5:57 pm #671433 highanxiety 47 PostsGlad to see things starting to pick up again for you guys. Hopefully February brings the goods. These negative temps suck, but I’ll take it over rain and ice storms. My leg recovery is coming along good. Rightsider, I am looking forward to getting in a pool, like you mentioned I heard it helps a lot. Its been a hectic week though as one of my touring partners/friend (skier) lost his house in a fire the other day. He was with me when I broke my leg. Luckily him and his family made it out safely, but everything they owned is gone. Its amazing seeing how awesome the community comes together to help their fellow neighbors in these parts. One good reason I love living in this area.Wishing you guys some good days such as this day last Feb up near J. January 29, 2014 at 9:56 pm #671434 802smuggler 369 PostsWent for a hike in Underhill today. Definetly not that ^^^. Infact, the west slope still needs a ton of snow. There was barely a foot lying on the death-glacier up top. February 1, 2014 at 3:51 am #671435 grubbers 150 PostsThe notch definitely needs a bit more snow, but it’s in halfway decent shape right now. Sounds like a few systems might be coming through within the next week to help fill everything in. February 6, 2014 at 12:08 am #671436 XCsnowboarderVW94 33 PostsJust did a quick lap up on Timberline at bolton and it was a little disappointing. That slope has been looking really win scoured and it certainly felt it. Under all the new snow it was pretty rough, and some sheets of pure ice. I’ve actually made better turns up in the Cotton brook area, earlier in the year then I did this afternoon.Going to go check out Wilderness/might hop into the woods tomorrow for Dawn patrol. I’ll report back then. 802smuggler and I are going to be at the base area at 6 if your in.Also, for those of you looking to explore the Bolton Backcountry. Check out this most recent map, lots of glades that aren’t know about in there. Done a few tours and anything on the back side in higher elevation is holding snow decently. February 7, 2014 at 4:40 am #671437 802smuggler 369 PostsThanks for sharing the goods, Alex. That’s a real find with the lack of snow. Dawn Patrol. XC scootin’ out of the frame. February 7, 2014 at 8:03 pm #671438 XCsnowboarderVW94 33 PostsWhat a great day! Smuggler, thanks for joining! Can’t wait to get back out there with more snow! Anyone else find any goods from Nika? February 10, 2014 at 5:15 pm #671439 Volcom82 11 PostsI rocked out the Thunderbolt on greylock with a few friends last Thursday after the storm. Well worth it February 11, 2014 at 5:03 pm #671440 XCsnowboarderVW94 33 PostsAnyone made it over to Big Jay yet? How’s that looking snow wise? I was thinking of heading up and doing some riding at Jay Peak over the weekend, and wanted to make a stop over there.PS let me know if your interested in joining in.-Alex February 11, 2014 at 9:45 pm #671441 rightsider 150 PostsWent for my first tour of season yesterday afternoon. Really nice and deep snow on top, but still super low tide. Around the Mansfield area. Here are couple quick GoPro clips. I could feel every stump, log, and rock under the snow. Super sketch. But, a couple more small storms and we won’t have to tip-toe nearly as much.Got in a few good turns yesterday and it felt really good to start earning again. Bring on more snow![youtube:1j4lquoq]ypPyLC5gups[/youtube:1j4lquoq] February 18, 2014 at 5:32 am #671442 802smuggler 369 PostsIt’s on. Get out and get some.
