The wind was kind to the west-facing slopes. With about a foot and a half more snow, everything will be riding very nicely. January 20, 2012 at 9:29 pm #647368 802smuggler 369 Posts Western face of the notch got a nice five or so inches last night. Trees were riding pretty nice. Strangely enough there wasnt any snow recorded at the stake last night. Zephyr 163, brandy wine 154 and spark lts in the mail! January 21, 2012 at 12:50 pm #647369 Kickin Chickin 35 Posts Made some real nice turns on some feather light snow! about 5″ of blower on crust was good for some low angle tree riding in southern/central Greens. The next storm should put alot of things in play, however it’s still like early season out there. Some Jong put a huge core shot in one my shop’s demos and totally rounded some edges so…… be careful! 😀 January 25, 2012 at 5:17 am #647370 vtbackcountry 440 Posts @vtbackcountry wrote: …the moisture should be there but it will be another ‘temperature game’ this season… kinda seems so… trying to remain ambivalent, but running out of lemonade mix January 27, 2012 at 4:59 am #647371 802smuggler 369 Posts Hate to have to keep crossing my fingers, but man I hope the weather people are wrong and I wake up to 6 in. of fresh in the yard! January 29, 2012 at 9:13 pm #647372 grubbers 150 Posts Sounds like there’s some snow in the forecast tonight into tomorrow (my guess is that it’ll add up to around 6″), but then there’s another warm up with some mixed precip later in the week. Hopefully the pattern will change soon and we’ll start getting more consistent cold and snow. FYI, the Alpine Shop is having a winter sale right now on pretty much everything in the store. Just snagged a Jones Solution for $640 (before tax). :bananas: As of yesterday, they still had a 164 Solution, a Hovercraft split, and a handful of Jones solid boards. South and east faces were nice with 6-8 on a crust above 1800 ft + -, Below that, it gets thinner with open water and spruce traps, about 2-3 on a crust. was only my first tour of the season.. got back at 7pm to an almost worried wife, riding with a headlamp. Kicked my ass. February 20, 2012 at 6:56 pm #647378 802smuggler 369 Posts I got called a stupid snowboarder by a ten your old kid trying to plow me over in the woods today. So what if he’s better than me? I hate presidents day, I hate crowds, and I hate mouthy little kids. Normally I’m pretty happy! 🙄 Think I will be hitting the backside on the splitty the next two days! February 20, 2012 at 8:35 pm #647380 802smuggler 369 Posts Yea I was at smuggs today. Yesterday we jumped on the cat trail behind Nordic barn. Skinned up pipeline. Snow was awful at that elevation. I’d say right around 2000. The trail was iced over and surrounding woods looked susPect. But got some turns none the less. The sun was out and temps near 30. Birds were out. It was a good day. We too didn’t get back to the truck till nearly seven but it was cool to watch the horse sleighs cross the field in the moon light. February 22, 2012 at 3:46 am #647381 vtbackcountry 440 Posts still found a nice 5-6″ of dry goods up high today, seems like only the highest elevation north facing glades are holding the real goods anymore. looking at 24-36″ bases in most areas except highest ridgelines w/ prolly ~40″.
