I am in Wanaka for the winter and looking to spend some time off TC or Cardrona possibly the crown range. Just visiting from Canada so not too familiar with the terrain. Its been very firm as of this past week so hopefully things will fresh’n up by the time you arrive.
You will definately get a good workout with Kyle. LOL The volcano is on the other island!! LOL
Might be touring tomorrow so I can give a better update if interested in conditions.
    Cheers

Thank you Firstlight for the heads up for the splitfest @ Temple. Do they allow old Cheeseman alumni? LOL
It would be a mission from Wanaka but if there is a chance to make it work I would seriously love to be there…just the excitement of the ropetow action alone would make it worth while!!!!
    Cheers

Its not that far from Wanaka really, you’ve come all the way from CA!

This will be my first time on a nut cracker so there should be some good carnage!!!!

I’m sure you’ll be able to grab a lift with someone coming from Queenstown, Rich might be able to sort you out with the local registered guys.

Well its not my first rodeo here in NZ but I’ve got good news and bad news for you if its your first time with the ropetows. Temple Basin has two that you ride with the rope on your right side and one that you ride with on your left side. So depending on if you ride goofy or not might dictate just how much carnage to anticipate. Not to worry though as everyone gets spanked sooner or later (usually from someone stacking it ahead of you and pulling the rope off all the wheels…)
    Savages!
I do have wheels here in Wanaka so thats covered its just the timing in mid Sept.
    Thanks again

Hey guys just found this thread. I’m based up in the Canterbury region but I have a couple of friends around Queenstown who get out in the backcountry around the Remarkables (Wye Creek and Doolans) on splits.
Whats more they even lurk around this site as well.

Send tr_nz or Draizuh a PM. I’m sure they will be more than happy to get out riding and show you guys round.

If you do get up Canterbury ways flick me a message if your looking for some people to show you round.

PS. Splitfest at Temple is always a great weekend
