(I don’t know any of the people in it, just stumbled across it).Normally the only avalanche video’s I enjoy are ones with people digging snow pits… but for some reason the fact that this one has both perspectives (from the buried & coming up behind) makes it sort of unique.

ParticipantI believe we watched this one happen from the lift. It’s a one-turner into a terrain trap that slides regularly and there were many, obvious, natural releases that day on similar elevations/aspects, so we chose not to ride the backcountry… plus inbounds was good. As he dropped, we all voiced that we thought it was going to slide. Questionable decisions…

ParticipantCan you say where this occurred? It was just out of bounds?
Thanks,
Arch

ParticipantThis is just out the Elbow, directly across from Chair 8. I was actually above this when it happened, I believe, at the very top of the run (hemispheres, top hump). There were many natural releases that day, as well as many more caused by skiers/snowboarders. We chose a much safer descent line, this is an obvious terrain trap that always slides. That is one area I avoid if there are pretty much any avalanche activity. This day is one I never would have ridden that face on.
This spot is about 100 yards or so out of bounds.
