December 23, 2011 at 12:12 am #643434 krz2fer 62 Posts First impressions: beautiful board. Tip and tail seem solid and I love the reinforcement. The K clips are a nice treat, too. Both sides are the same height and line up. Top sheet is a glossy dream and the hole alignment appears just fine. My main dig on the board I received is that it appears the center of the board shows 1/16-1/8” through — it’s not flush down the center or at the tip and tail beyond the K clips. Some areas less than others, but at least one area of definite sun showing through. I’m honestly not sure how that will affect the ride all that much especially when the bindings are sent through. Nonetheless it’s a bit disappointing. I look forward to the first skin and shred session to get a better feel for this board. Despite the aforementioned bummer point, the deck feels rock solid compared to a deck with the Chinese hooks w/o bindings thrown on yet. December 23, 2011 at 12:26 am #643435 stein 174 Posts 1/8″? Holy crap, post some pics? December 23, 2011 at 2:56 am #643436 Dose. 12 Posts I’d like to see a pic too! As much as I love the Hover shape really thinking of moving on. December 23, 2011 at 3:01 am #643437 krz2fer 62 Posts So I broke out the tape measure and it’s 1/16. Apologies for the alarmist comment… I was probably hopped on on getting fresh gear. I suppose I should compare out my current voile and check to see if there is a gap similar. Edit: Yeah, the voile is about 1/16 as well. December 23, 2011 at 7:33 pm #643438 Dose. 12 Posts Yeah, all boards have a little space for sure. 1/8 on a factory board would be pushing it a bit. Hope you enjoy the board. I am still holding out for the Hover…..perfect shape for what I want in a split. December 23, 2011 at 9:10 pm #643439 krz2fer 62 Posts I spotted about three Solution’s against the back wall at Bent Gate in Golden last night. Not sure on sizing, but I assume that’s their shipment and once they’re gone that’s it — fwiw. December 23, 2011 at 11:44 pm #643440 Dose. 12 Posts Thanks for the heads up. Looks like I am moving on! Just got an email that my back order is not coming. Got to say…..Jones is dropping the ball as a company and the way they are distributing by making you wait and then not delivering each promised date is more than frustrating. At this point, I’ll gladly give my money to someone else. December 24, 2011 at 5:39 pm #643441 krz2fer 62 Posts Sorry to hear that. I’m sure you could call Bent Gate and pay for shipping if you wanted a Solution, since I know they have a few. Otherwise, I can’t say I blame you. JJ should seriously consider (you reading JJ?) bringing the manufacturing of these boards back home. Nidecker was contracted presumably to deliver on the high demand for these boards, and they’ve failed miserably. I’m a guy who likes to buy new gear, and only this christmas eve (near) miracle kept them from losing me forever. In the future though…if I can find something comparable in shape, I’ll likely opt to go another direction. January 2, 2012 at 7:55 pm #643445 Darrick 96 Posts Was up in the mammoth are a this weekend and checked out the Solutions at Wave Rave. NONe of the tip and tail clips were tight and solid and on two of them, the tail clips couldn’t even clip closed because the rivet was too short. Pretty sketchy. I had a solution for 3/4 of the year last year and had to redrill my tip and tail clips(lame) and eventually took it back to REI because the edges were rusting INSIDE the board. That put me over the edge. Good reason to get it from REI. January 28, 2012 at 10:14 pm #643446 grubbers 150 Posts FYI, the Alpine Shop in Vermont has a couple of Jones splits on sale right now. Just snagged a 161 Solution for $640 (before tax). They still have a 164 Solution, a Hovercraft split, and a handful of solids in stock. January 29, 2012 at 6:53 am #643447 mattg29 16 Posts Hey everyone I have a jones splitboard my issue is the board doesn’t line up by about 5 mm because the interlocking loop holes are out of line. Here’s the link viewtopic.php?f=9&t=12709 I wish someone had mentioned these build issues before I went and bought it.
