Forums Splitboard Talk Forum Is there still snow in the Catskills? I was thinking of making a day trip to try out my new Prior splitboard. Which New York Catskills resort would have the best snow this time of year? Thanks! He said that Jay, Sugarbush and Killington are still open, so that might be your best bet. From the picture I saw, I would gather that east coast backcountry is done – with the notable exception of NH. He went to Tuck’s last week and scored epic conditions. April 21, 2011 at 2:57 pm #639592 solidbored 56 Posts A friend of mine just sent me this picture from Belleayre in the Cats! http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150177364532897&set=a.236996412896.134587.98288592896&type=1 I would do TUX but I don’t think I have more than 1 day this weekend to get away from NJ. Belleayre is about 90minutes away. I will be hardpack/slush, but I’m gonna check it out, and then let you all know. Plus I have never splitted before, so this will be a day of figuring out how to do it! I still haven’t figured out how to unsnap the Chinese hooks, so I’m really completely new to this. Good luck in your exploration. Here’s just outside on Burlington on Monday And Tucks on April 12th April 23, 2011 at 1:56 am #639594 solidbored 56 Posts Belleayre in the Catskills has a ton of snow! Locals, that I ran into toady, figure the base should hold up well into June! This is a picture I took of myself near the top of Yahoo, just as I had emerged from the double diamond section / mogul field. I certainly learned my lesson that steep pitches and skins don’t mix (hence the boards on my pack). The next time I went up, I ascened an intermediate run.
