The addition of an Idaho sub-forum would be nice.

I’ll second that. Why isn’t there any Idaho love??? We’ve got the most mountain wilderness in the lower 48!

So I’ll keep this thing going and hope that the Mods start a sub-forum…

Itching to get out and try my new Sparks tomorrow. Probably gonna do a mellow tour around the Galena Summit area. Coverage is ok but Avy danger is rated considerable for most aspects so We’re gonna have to play conservative. Just need to get out and go exploring

Y’all got it easy with that road over Galena. I’ll probably be down that way in a couple weeks to visit my buddy and do some splitting. Downright purdy down there.

    North Idaho luv
New Years eve day slack country, I like to turn a lot and savor it more than most boarders :disco:

Conditions were a few inches of fresh with a light corn glaze
    It’s April right?

    Nice Pics!

I went out on my first split of the season today. Just off Galena Summit. Conditions were VARIABLE. Re-Gen pow, wind buff, sun crust, etc. Galena is pretty well played out, most of the popular runs look like they’re side-country or in bounds at a resort. We were able to push deep and find a fresh zone.

stability was good but plenty of evidence of recent natural slides.

Coverage was acceptable considering we’re doing a lot better than most places 😀

Central ID is ripping right now! With 4′ of new snow in places life is good  Avy danger is still pretty high but hopefully things will stabilize relatively quickly and we’ll be able to place in the steep and fun terrain. :sending:

I agree on making an Idaho sub-forum. Just new to splitting here in Pocatello area, went out yesterday and found good snow around 9000 feet. Also pre-splitboard a couple weeks ago went down and snowshoe/snowboarded emigrant summit area and that was plenty deep… looking for more splitters in the area

    Thanks BC
    N. Idaho report, 2 feet of warmish snow the last couple days on top of a couple feet of cold snow last week. wind loaded open slopes will be dangerous and sloughs in steep trees will be a given, especially north and east aspects, choose your paths wisely.

I may not be Idahoan but I like to ride there – and there’s plenty of splittin’ going on that thar way. Thanks, BCR.

hit up Schwietzer slack country Tue.
A few inches of recent snow was rebaked by the sun into happy corn.
left late in the morn so stayed of the steeps lest I slough off the whole slope (learned that lesson well)
Would post pics but in a gaper move I brought the camera, extra batteries but left the sd card in the puter :banghead:

Beaver Creek drainage just South of Stanley Idaho 4/19/12, about 4″ on corn. Bagged both coolers at the same time, pretty rad day. Getting cold again on Thursday, going back for more!

This is on the menu for Friday…

The Little Sub-forum that couldn’t quite. Any Boise, McCall, Sun Valley residents or travelers through out there looking to get on some snow(once it’s here)? I agree and Idaho sub-forum would be nice. Actual boarding even better. Long time boarder hoping to take it to the BC this season.

Did I say a few days….I meant a few years. (where’s my embarrassed emoji)

    Well, better late than never!

Those are some sweet lines out near Stanley.

I’ve got family in Poky, and I’m considering taking some work up there. It looks like there are 60+ miles of MTB trails for the summer but I’ve been searching Google Earth for these ranges those guys were discussing on this thread a few years back.

If anyone has any current data on where the goods are around Pocatello do tell!

And I’ll keep an eye out to hopefully meet up with some of you guys.
