January 27, 2010 at 1:59 pm #625381 TEX 2486 Poststhe wasatch is a three ring circus.Amen to that. I think if I lived there I would just submit. I mean its nice to have great terrain right out your doorstep, but when that terrain is served by a shuttle bus and is half an hour from a city with a million people what would one expect? A couple hours to the north and you can find some very nice stuff. Quiet, alone, solitudeThe wasatch is not much differnt from Southern California Beaches. As a lifelong surfer I have seen the crowds go from a lot to uncontrollable. What used to be no-no’s in the surf world like dropping in and two people to a wave are now normal in some spots. Its people. More of them and more adventureous. You just have to up the ante and go further out.Or…….the orchard with the low hanging fruit will always be picked clean on the first harvest January 27, 2010 at 2:32 pm #625382 Stagger Lee 242 Posts“Total flights – 1,619 Number of skier tourers/snowshoers seen in the year – 408″WTF? They must only count the people they actually land on, or the number of sweaty assholes that are shown to them. I know they’ve seen mine a few times.I tried to ask Tyson about this last Sunday but he just acted like he didn’t hear me as soon as he realized I wasn’t “a friendly”. I just wanted to know who they actually count. Do you have to be within a certain radius of their landing zone to be counted or are they supposed to include each and every skier they can see?Anybody know? Powdertothepeople.orgis fighting a similar battle in Aspen, against the commercialized ski-cat guides who are trying to prevent recreational users from tracking their ‘claimed’ powder. It is not helicopters, but it is the same concept. If one looks at relief map of the entire Colorado Plateau it becomes painfully obvious when compared to other ranges.Shark Snowsurf Chuna Voile V-Tail 170 BC Voile One Ninety Five Spark R&D Arc February 1, 2010 at 7:18 pm #625386 lewmt 570 PostsThink I’m kinda loving hillbilly-assed Montana – specially out here in the middle where nobody thinks there’s anything worthwhile.More people=less freedom.
