December 10, 2012 at 8:40 pm #662776 chrishami 194 PostsWhoa, very nice, thanks Barrows. I just last night watched episode 6 of Balance, also with Joey Vosburgh, from the Trapper homepage. His riding is incredible, but what really stood out to me in this video was the skinning at about 1:06 to 1:15, those long strides. Last week I took an avy level 1. I was the only snowboarder, everyone else were AT and tele guys. I had no problem keeping up on the descents but I noticed that skinning they had a huge advantage over me. Even when I put my highbacks as far as they go, neg 15 or whatever, my boots still wouldn’t let me take long forward strides. I guess tour mode in a boot is a nice thing to have. Anyway, thanks for posting, nice lunchtime video.167 furberg 163/26 Venture Helix December 10, 2012 at 10:23 pm #662777 keffler 319 PostsCool video and really like Joey’s attitude  December 10, 2012 at 11:02 pm #662778 HikeforTurns 1114 PostsRippin! :headbang:[vimeo:juqqvzzh]http://www.vimeo.com/53801127[/vimeo:juqqvzzh] December 10, 2012 at 11:56 pm #662779 UTAH 830 PostsRipping for sure. But in AK’s coastal wind-scoured crust, it was just F’ing awful to ride the buckin’ bronco. :banghead:Softies all the way. :thumpsup:Awesome vid though. Juuust kidding 🙂After much research, experimentation and consideration, I have decided adulthood is not for me. Thank you for the opportunity. December 13, 2012 at 4:05 pm #662783 jvosburgh 22 PostsThanks for the love guys. Kelsey from Lee visual and I worked really hard to get these shots. All touring based and he has a lot of camera gear! Im not here to preach the benefits of hard shell boots, I call them mountain boots cause its got a better ring with no stigma’s attached. But i am here to say try it. And dont use a pair of snowboard race boots or a ski boot or even a stock ski touring boot. Get the proper boot and do the necessary mods and bam… a hardshell boot with soft boot qualities. You will not regret it. Way lighter on the up, better stride, quicker transitions, easier to ski and edge that windpack or ice. I could go on but I wont… Thanks for watching Lee Visuals Balance series and the kind words. December 13, 2012 at 4:14 pm #662784 barrows 1490 PostsJV, Welcome to SB.com! That flick makes me happy. December 21, 2012 at 3:59 am #662790 russman 692 PostsGorgeous video!! Holy smokes, those mountains look rad! A trip up there may be in order…Regarding Harboots.. His riding looked great! Super surfy, and he’s got the shred gene for sure. I will still point out however, that his lower extremity range of motion looked very limited. His knees and ankles barely bend! Every single turn was initiated from the hips, and he didn’t create any small radius turns… It was like every turn was conducted perfectly, but only after it came out of the computer program. I’m not sold on hardboots!!Soft boots with flexible ankles, stiff mountaineering soles, and shit loads of forward lean.. December 21, 2012 at 7:41 pm #662791 Jason4 443 PostsI was going to stay quiet on this be but Russ has said it already. The turns look good but they would be hard to make bad in these conditions.I’ll be sold on hardboots when I can get mine to the point that I can do proper methods in them. That’s my requirement and everything else is just frosting on the cake. Its just the snow is so good around here that we rarely get to show it off Viewing 20 posts - 1 through 20 (of 132 total) 1 2 3 … 5 6 7 →You must be logged in to reply to this topic.
