I’ve been lurking for some time, drooling heavily over the TR’s and mtn. bike stoke images. Nice work, you guys(and gals) are gettin’ after it!

    A little about me:
Been snowboarding for the last (17) years and consider it to be one of my true passions in life. Have been a Mammoth Mtn. season pass holder since I lived up there in the mid to late 90’s. June Mtn. is my happy place. :bananas: I’d like nothing more than to move back one day, given my love of the outdoors and wilderness.

I picked up the Eastern Sierra Backcountry Guide recently and would love to invest in some equipment(and avy training) and earn a few turns next season. I drive to Mammoth frequently during the winter and summer if there are ever opportunities to join some veteran splitters.

    See you around,

Hey mark, welcome to da Forum. Why did you wait till the end of the season to introduce yourself?
No worries… will be there next year.
If you decided to become a splitter you will be #4 or #5? from the San Diego Area
    Theres –

    and you.

I have 2 burton splits an older 165 with Voile plates and burton Bindings and a newer 168 with sparks. Both have skins and I have extra poles.
If you are serious about getting into the backcountry buy you a beacon now. Its the end of the season and you should be able to get a good deal on one. Then buy a shovel and a probe.
If you get a beacon I would be more than happy to give you and Avy course just so I can carpool.
Also its always good to do some beacon searches at the beach

PM me for my number if you need any more info

I often wish for people to carpool with and Im usually somewhere between Lone Pine and Tioga Pass and on occasion even further north or east ( Tahoe, Utah, Wyoming )

I will be looking for car poolers but if you ride with me I do have a habit of

yeah TEX comes across all ‘innocent like’ on the forum, but once you meet him in person…

i’m already looking forward to next season too. i’m learning the ways of rock climbing right now. it’s far less painful than skating and one thing i learned from the split crowd is to come prepared in case the big kids (you know who you are) decide to repel into anything that will make me wet my pants.

Sorry for the thread drift, but… you may want to consider picking up some Shart Shorts ™. Perfect for the situation you describe. Here’s an example of them in use:

Back on topic… welcome sdmarkus! See ya on the eastside.
