    Andrew Miller. The struggle.

And ofcourse, sunrise in the clouds. It would get so deep at times, we had to resort to mixed rock and ice climbing on the couly walls to get around the bottomless pits.

Other times, we… uhhh… got stuck. We couldnt help but laugh the whole way up.

    First line of the season!

Way to get after it Zach! Saw your ride at upper Alta this morning. Was that you dropping into to High Rustler from the east approach? Thought about doing that one myself, but I didn’t realize it was Rustler until I got back to the p-lot…
Didn’t matter, it was all good today 😀

    Hey Zach,

just curious is there any reason why you guys booted up that verses taking the ridge? seems like a lot of extra wallowing through the snow….anyways again nice shots!!

I’m curious as well. It’s faster that way during a melt/freeze but

im sure zach has a reason and will see what he says if anything but for me a rule to live and die by – hike your line.

My first turns of year today were roughly 1/48th that deep 😆

Hopefully you Utahninianites don’t get the layer of death this year!

I believe in always scoping your line, but most of the time you dont hike directly up your line if it can be gained via a ridge or on a less angled slope

Well I’ve always gone right up the thing pre-season cause I never want to be droppin in on a buncha rocks. If I feel it out as I go, I always know where to lay into the good turns. There was 8-10 inches everywhere else. We had no idea we were going into a five foot blower couloir! plus… you always get better photos if you spend more time in the cool shit haha

Nice man! I saw your tracks from up on flagstaff an hour ago. I was so surprised by all the tracks on south facing terrain… and Alta looks like it was open… madness!
