Although the new shape is in the early testing process, the results from test board #1 were fantastic. The plan is to get the shape (flex, camber profile, rocker, variable side cut radius ect) dialed and then turn it into a splitty for some testing before the snow turns to poo. More to come, stay tuned! Think Snow! I got a handfull of days on one of their proto-splits several years ago. it was the phoenix or some other model. super awesome ride. April 19, 2011 at 3:06 pm #639304 Ecobrad 2068 Posts It was supposed to be a joke. April 25, 2011 at 5:28 pm #639305 Snowman1 63 Posts No, not Zack. My name is Mark Kress. I have been working with Donek helping with testing and development of alpine/race boards for the last few years. Sean has willingly decided to develop new powder/all mtn shapes this season and is desireous of developing these shapes into splitboard offerings. Proto #2 is out of the press and has some snow time on it, some of the changes were good, some not so good. Proto #3 will be pressed this week and hopefully the snow gods will give us some good testing conditions. One of the primary concerns of the development of this deck is to make is as light as possible and still be durable. A proto split should be on the snow sometime next month. Think Snow! October 30, 2011 at 5:26 pm #639306 Snowman1 63 Posts Its really more intended to be a broad/all conditions board. Big variable sidecut, super light weight carbon construction, and rocker designed and built to handle the largest range of riding conditions(glades, trees, chutes) and snow conditions imagineable. Most of the boards I have ridden are good in one area or another but lack in overall ability or shoddy construction. This deck is built to excel in the broadest range of conditions possible and handle them all with gusto. I wanted something for the BC that handle it all and not leave me wishing that I was riding something else. If your looking for something new and better, drop Sean Martin at Donek Snowboards a note. http://www.donek.com October 30, 2011 at 5:30 pm #639307 Taylor 794 Posts Let’s see some pics and specs. @sun_rocket October 30, 2011 at 6:04 pm #639308 Snowman1 63 Posts Pics and specs coming soon! Between the Nomad models, the Hazelwood big guns, their longer sidecuts (into the 14s) and the ability to split and customize them, Donek is bringing some nice back-country board options to market. Definitely nice to see and a welcome addition to others’ board offerings. @sun_rocket November 7, 2011 at 2:21 pm #639312 Snowman1 63 Posts @snowman1 wrote: Snowman: $880 also includes the option to customize length, width, side-cut, flex and taper, correct? Yes, that is correct. Sean has the ability to make changes and modification to any parameter of the board and with little or no upcharge. I am going with a slightly more streched out sidecut than the standard on mine. December 6, 2011 at 4:10 pm #639313 Snowman1 63 Posts Being built as I type. The final result will be a Donek 167 Nomad split with a custom scr config of 7/15m tip to tail, lots of carbon, Karakorum clips, Voile plate and climbing wires, Bomber Sidewinder binders, G3 Splitty skins. Now if we would just get blessed with some snow. Sean also has 2 other splits under construction and I hope to have some pics of all three to pass along in the next few days. Think Snow! December 6, 2011 at 6:37 pm #639314 NoKnees 336 Posts I look forward to hearing how the new split rides. I road an old Donek Incline for a few seasons quite a while ago. Bomber board, fun to ride, loved the mellower 11m ish sidecut. Thought about splitting it myself a while back, but decided it was a bit narrower than I wanted for backcountry use and ended up with a factory split from Prior… However, I’ve kept checking in on the Donek boards to see what’s new… Keep us posted! Greg - NoKnees January 6, 2012 at 4:59 pm #639315 Snowman1 63 Posts Just informed from Sean at Donek that the Snowman edition Donek Nomad Custom Carbon Split is assembled and ready. Sean has promised to send off some pics and a brief write up from the builder to post here on Splitboard.com. All of the pieces of my new deck are finally together, Karakorum clips, Bomber TD3 splitboard binders, Voile Sliders and G3 Splitty skins! Now, if ULLR would cooperate and release some much needed snow on Berthoud Pass. Think Snow! Viewing 20 posts - 1 through 20 (of 43 total) 1 2 3 → You must be logged in to reply to this topic.
