January 15, 2016 at 3:48 pm #788320 schwalbster 321 PostsDUUUDE! That really sucks! Good luck with the surgery and heal up quick Tex! We gotta ride this season! After much research, experimentation and consideration, I have decided adulthood is not for me. Thank you for the opportunity. January 15, 2016 at 4:59 pm #788321 Matt Wood 328 PostsBummer. Do you know what repair they are doing. Start PT as soon as you can, the surgeons cover there ass and keep you splinted. Anyway, what’s done is done. Now focus on healing. There goes the arm wrestling career;) January 17, 2016 at 7:44 am #788377 TEX 2486 PostsI have a good Orthopedic who runs a sports clinic with PT, MRI, and Surgery all in house. They do focus on a full “athletic” recovery. He has been the Xgames ortho for years and the San Diego Chargers team ortho, This guys office has signed posters and jerseys form Tony Hawk, Bucky Lasik, Payton Manning, Phillip Rivers , ect.He seems to really care about getting me back to splitting!and if He screws it up, JimW can carry my pack for me 🙂 January 22, 2016 at 2:04 pm #788569 TEX 2486 Postsjust got back from surgery soft cast thank goodness I will report my progress pretty sure im out this season except for Shasta and lassen but im still stoked about how this season is shaping up January 22, 2016 at 3:20 pm #788573 schwalbster 321 PostsTrue Bummer Tex! Hang in there man! And heal up quickAfter much research, experimentation and consideration, I have decided adulthood is not for me. Thank you for the opportunity. January 22, 2016 at 3:40 pm #788574 TEX 2486 PostsThanks Henning. Wouldn’t you know it, the surfs been huge too damn January 22, 2016 at 4:08 pm #788575 schwalbster 321 PostsYes of course it is! Injuries always strike at the worst times. How about July or something, when the surf sucks and the season is over. Feel sorry for you TEX. We had so many bad winters in a row and now you got this shit! After much research, experimentation and consideration, I have decided adulthood is not for me. Thank you for the opportunity. February 9, 2016 at 9:04 am #789261 TEX 2486 PostsTwo and a half weeks out of Surgery. No pain, No pain pills. I have one of those bionic looking braces that I wear sometimes. Mostly in an ace wrap bandage. I mowed the yard yesterday one handed. Super paranoid about re-rupturing the thing. don’t know why So, Matt I had surgery Jan 22. Two things I really want to get back to Splitting of course. Will I be able to hit it by May you think? or July?Flying- my left hand is the one I use to pull back on the yoke and turn the ailerons. About 10-15 lbs pressure pulling back. But, I also have to pull the plane out one hand steers a bar on the front wheel and the other on the prop pulling.Ohhhh How Long. This sucks February 10, 2016 at 3:31 am #789289 Matt Wood 328 PostsI was working after 8 weeks, touring would have been no problem. I feel you fear about rupturing that dang thing again. I stress about yanking the other sucker off now too. Have you started PT yet? February 10, 2016 at 7:05 am #789295 TEX 2486 PostsNo PT as of yet. Funny the Ortho said they usually don’t give PT for this one which shocked me The PT desk is the same as the ortho and there offices are next to each other. But he told me usually the patient won’t need it because they will be pushing the limits and through normal day to day activities usage will return. He is more concerned about me overdoing it and this guy deals with active people on a regular basis so the no PT really through me off What do you do for work Matt ? I’m an electrician and hoping to return to work at 8 weeks but not sure if I could pick up a 6 foot fiberglass ladder at that point Really don’t care about work as much as splitting and flying February 11, 2016 at 4:10 am #789336 Matt Wood 328 PostsMy surgeon said no PT too, couldn’t believe it. Had to almost beg for the script. Personally I was scared shitless to use it on my own. With out my super women Physical Therapist to push me, I would have been weeks behind. I own a small Construction Co. We do mostly interior remodels and I do all my cabinetry in house. So, you’re in the same boat with the manual labor gig. I still say (In my case at least) that the surgeons are more concerned about making sure their repair takes then they are with you actually healing and getting on with life. My surgeon in Steamboat have there walls plastered with past and present olympians so they deal with there share of active type humans too. I wish I went to PT week 2. Turning a screwdriver’s gonna be a bit weird for a while buddy;) July 29, 2016 at 3:48 am #793119 Matt Wood 328 PostsOne year ago yesterday…. Tex how are you making out? August 13, 2016 at 6:24 pm #793479 TEX 2486 PostsI’m doing good. I’m six months out. No just returned to work two weeks ago ( thanks Doc ?) I wasn’t strong enough to work but did get a few trips under my belt. Skinning one armed and careful not to fall on the bad arm I feel pretty good at this point. No permanent damage. Thank God for modern medicine November 3, 2016 at 4:04 am #795958 Matt Wood 328 PostsWell F%^$. The left one let go yesterday helping a friend move. This one’s worse as ear as pain. MRI today. November 6, 2016 at 3:39 am #796044 Matt Wood 328 PostsYup, surgery Friday. This one held onto some bone. Far more pain this go around. November 9, 2016 at 8:46 pm #796144 WhitePine 503 PostsBummer dude. I had a Bicep Tendon tear too last February. 3 months of PT helped a ton to get the range of motion back. Since I hit my deductible, I may end up getting the right shoulder scoped in the coming weeks. Now that mtn biking season is winding down.Good luck going under the knife. December 19, 2016 at 3:11 am #797339 Matt Wood 328 PostsFive weeks tomorrow. They did the button repair this time so I have one of each. Waaaay more pain this go around. Still avoided the drugs, thankfully I live in a state where I can go downtown and get some 10mg chocolate chip cookies for sleeping. Honestly it still hurts a fair amount. Been touring, one poled a bit for fitness, and today I’m going to see how the new bionics work out with a pole in my hand. Shit, I may even do some meadow skipping. Hopefully I get my surgeons blessing at tomorrows appointment (Please god, budda, baby jesus…. whoever).
