A pretty cool narrow, steep couloir off of Branham peaks in the southern Tobacco roots. It was steep. The top was just under 167cm wide too, which made things interesting. The couloir itself was around 1000ft of vert with another thousand below it. The snow inside was pretty well sheltered from the sun and there were only a few spots where pinwheels would even form. Things were different below, we saw a decent wet slide come down on it’s own on a particularly sunny slope. We saw 2 splitboarders heading down as we walked up the trail after our alpine start at noon who appeared to have tried the same route. They had some trouble establishing a boot pack it sounded like. Fortunately for us I was on snowshoes and could pack unconsolidated foot or so on top down enough to support some boots 😉 May 1, 2007 at 6:08 pm #596341 jimw 1421 PostsNice, and in shorts no less! @jparker wrote:We saw 2 splitboarders heading down as we walked up the trail after our alpine start at noon who appeared to have tried the same route.
