Here’s a few photos from Hyalite on Saturday. Things froze hard were locked up good ‘n solid all day long. We found challenging surface conditions but a had fun day out anyway. I expected to see lots of wetslide debris on the sunnier aspects from the warmer days earlier in the week, but saw very little save some pinwheels and a cornice drop or two.

Was out around Cooke City last weekend and had absolutely perfect conditions. Upper 8″ skiing incredibly soft with no layers of concern. Some windloading to true N aspects that caused a couple of naturals, but we rode all other aspects and experienced pretty much “green light” conditions. Looks like it’s going to be a pretty good spring around these parts! Psyched.

Tracks of the master, who of course beat us to it:

But plenty of room for our tracks too:

Spanish Peaks oglin’ from the summit:

    Chamonix Couloir earlier this week:

Once things re-freeze up high, should be game on again! Snow levels are looking really good up high!

Hope you all are planning Beartooth trips this spring… I think the snowpack is going to be excellent. Weathered a decent sized storm that garnered about a foot of new snow up high (with a lot more on the loaded N aspects) over the weekend. Post-kitchen excavation:

More Beartooth stoke for you Montanans from a three-day trip with nomad and Ned.

    Gorgeous, committing lines:

Sizeable mountains (Beartooth Mountain- the pinnacle is the Bear’s Tooth)

Camp in the headwaters of the Lake Fork of Rock Creek (nomad can be seen, yellow-jacketed, beneath the giant cornice Ned’s standing on)

He doesn’t post on his blog very often, but when he does it usually makes for some good visuals and words.

Right on Patrick! You were way more dutiful with the camera than I was this trip. Awesome photos, especially of that evening corn run. Way to capture that fantastic light.
