Here’s a few photos from Hyalite on Saturday. Things froze hard were locked up good ‘n solid all day long. We found challenging surface conditions but a had fun day out anyway. I expected to see lots of wetslide debris on the sunnier aspects from the warmer days earlier in the week, but saw very little save some pinwheels and a cornice drop or two.
Was out around Cooke City last weekend and had absolutely perfect conditions. Upper 8″ skiing incredibly soft with no layers of concern. Some windloading to true N aspects that caused a couple of naturals, but we rode all other aspects and experienced pretty much “green light” conditions. Looks like it’s going to be a pretty good spring around these parts! Psyched.
Tracks of the master, who of course beat us to it:
Hope you all are planning Beartooth trips this spring… I think the snowpack is going to be excellent. Weathered a decent sized storm that garnered about a foot of new snow up high (with a lot more on the loaded N aspects) over the weekend. Post-kitchen excavation:
Anyone looking to get out this weekend? Hoping to ski some lines I’ve been scoping out in the spanish peaks….could even be talked into gallatin or the blaze if conditions are right. pm me.
deepter at bridger, around 3ft at the top of pierres, Still snowing when i left at 12:30, A lot was full, almost as many dogs as people. Snow was light and bonded well to the old layer, couldnt get any thing to sluff or slide
2nd season is ON!!! I free all week and am look for a partner to ride some steeper lines.
Right on Patrick! You were way more dutiful with the camera than I was this trip. Awesome photos, especially of that evening corn run. Way to capture that fantastic light.
