Scotty Bob skis were raffled off to the best costume, it was a tough decision though. There were some classic 80’s one-of-a-kind neon one-pieces. Aspen extreme was represented well too. October 29, 2006 at 3:33 pm #591304 Unruly Baker 333 Posts I posted most of this on teletips but figured I’d post here to since I am a splitboard guy. I saw this movie this weekend. All I can say is that I am very suprised. 😯 For a first movie it is a very impressive. Lots of stuff to get you thinking and lots of snow porn to make you want to get out and play. Great visuals and skiing from Alaska, Argentina, Utah, Colorado and who knows where else. Smooth still shots and many angles, lots of helmet cam shots to compliment the shots of the same line across the ridge so you see the lines from the riders eye and the observers. All backcountry and earned turns. So if they aren’t hucking a huge line you see from the screen it’s probably because they don’t have a heli to fly them out to safety from the middle of a glacier in AK and if they get hurt they’ll be in serious trouble for hours or even days before they can get help. But they get roudy and ski some pretty sweet stuff anyway. It was also cool that they did a “Splitboard 101” where they go through how a splitboard works (All Never Summer splitboards for this section, Bently and NS, you best be happy about that!) and why they rule, then show some folks killing it on them. 8) I was also very impressed with the tribute to Doug Coombs and the other skier that died with them. The Thrillhead folks had a connection to them and it was very cool to see them say thanks and give props. I highly advise checking it out if it is in your neighborhood. I thought it was equal to the new PW06 and in some ways better because it has AT, splitboarding, and tele so it appeals to a lot more folks while not leaving anyone out. I also like the music much better than a lot of snow movies lately. If not drop them a line and pick up a copy. It is worth adding to your collection. Worth my time and $$. Might be for you too. The movie’s definitely got something for everyone…and the soundtrack is amazing…between the visuals and the music it’s sure to give you plenty of inspirado! Was a good time, just wish I could have scraped together a costume but didn’t feel like traveling on business for a week before the party and lugging around a one-peice in my carry-on, but I had fun anyway, until I had to get on the plane back to UT on Saturday. I don’t think the Thrillhead office will ever smell right again, not that it smelled right to begin with, but it’s definitely more wronger now. 😉 Come on out to UT this winter when Thrillrod, the Body and the rest of the fools are out. I have tons of room and always need an excuse to duck out of work and go play in the snow. I believe you will have to send in check or cash as I dont think they have an online orderform at the moment, and the boys are out taking some well deserved time off to go shred Silverton and Crested Butte for a few days. I also have some people wanting to pick up the dvd so I will pass it along to them and post further info here. Also, for anyone who will be attending one of the shows in a ski town near you…copies will be available there. Hope to see some of you for it, it has a lot of splitboard content, including the splitboard 101 section. I can’t recall another snow porn flick with as much split footage as this movie. Most of the raffle gear is tele but there is other cool gear up for grabs that will benefit us single plankers. Be there or be rectangular.
