I spent 10 days of my 17 days boarding Las Lenas, The refugio above el Bolson (1 ½ hours south of Bariloche) , and la Hoya (which is about 3 ½ hours south of Bariloche). This time around I did not see any other splitboards. So, I considered myself the ambassador 😀

I arrived at LLs on Saturday, August 27th during the first day of the storms. Because it snow almost the entire time I was there (5 days), I never got off piste. I did end of skinning up under the Volcano lift for some great power and hiking around where lifts were not running. But visibility was limited because of so much white light.

The snow was great, the crowds were not.

I stayed in Malargue, about 80 Km south west of LLs. And drove back and forth each day. It was way cheaper, got food, and no crowds. Think steaks and trout. Steaks and Trout!

On day 5 I returned to San Rafael to ditch the rent a car and begin by 15 hour bus ride south with Andesmar. I have to say that was the best bus ride of my life and cost only about $40 in what I would call “executiveâ€Â

NJAB, great trip photos! Thanks for keeping up the early autumn stoke. Another couple months here before the snow starts to fall on the highest peaks here in Japan…

I see people from time to time, but it’s still a very small group.
