I did a search and it didn’t seem that it’s been discussed before, but maybe the answer is just that obvious(?). Anyone know much about or ever been to the Adirondack BC Ski Festival (here: http://adkbcski.com/2012/01/31/2012-adirondack-backcountry-ski-festival/)? Yeah, yeah, I know, it’s a ski festival, but maybe some of the tours would be interesting for someone unfamiliar with that area, such as myself. Or would it be horrid faux pas to show up with a split? I suppose I could also float this past the people organizing it, but I thought I might check with you enlightened folk as well for some opinions.

I don’t know much about the backcountry festival, but I do know that we need some storms in February to have any sort of good backcountry riding in March. As of now it is an extremely low snowpack season in the Adirondacks, and there isn’t much in the long term forecast right now. Pray for snow…

East coast should hold their splitfest out west.

Maybe the west should loan us some of their snow!
I don’t think I’ve ever hear of East Coast Splitfest, but it might be entertaining to crash the party there with a bunch of other splitters. That is if the current low-tide situation ever resolves itself.

For the other East-Coasties hanging out here, I’m also holding out for the T-Bolt Trail race on Greylock in MA (to spectate and tour around a bit). The event and party afterwards sound like an amusing way to spend a day.

    Keep the faith…

😆 😆 😆 What snow? VT has a deeper base than Tahoe and most of the west. 😥

AK should be loaning this year!

bshuppow is right. I live in the Adirondacks. Without a big storm or two the Adk BC Ski Fest is going to be confined to vendor booths in the parking lot. The backcountry is extremely low tide right now. We received some accumulation a week ago but it rained again last Wednesday and everything is shit again.

That said the Adk BC Ski Fest is always a good time. This year’s special guest – Glen Plake. And yes, splitboards are welcome.
