Late night we found a nice little campsite tucked away in the northern forest.
Morning surprise; my bro Mike figures out that he slept with his head right next to someone’s turd (center right)
What you don’t know don’t hurt you while you sleep I guess, but nevertheless a pretty funny start our day.
Welcome to Canada, the Yukon to be specific.
This little homey really liked me for some reason. At first I thought he was gonna jet, but then he wanted to make friends.
Anyhow, we were in-route to Valdez and it was a nice day and I wanted to ride the Yukon. I found a nice looking couloir, right on the shore of one of my favorite lakes in the world and since it was bluebird and mid-drive we decided to stretch our legs.
Springtime for sure, bears are out climbing couloirs too.
With no idea what the conditions might be like when we decided to go for it, we are feeling very blessed that its soft, dry, wintery powder snow.
Hell yeah; good times and nice lines; we came, we saw, and we rode the Yukon Territories, and it was unique. (couloir center of frame)
is that Mike Elam that your riding with? If so, man! I haven’t seen him in years… since 2008 when i met him in Argentina and travelled around with him for 2 weeks between Chile and Argentina. So sick to see him tackling lines up north, and getting his split action on! is he still basing himself in Tahoe? Anyhow super sick trip report. making my way to the Yukon this week! stoked!
I could honestly say in the 3k+ mile drive to AK this might be the coolest bend in the road the whole way.
Here’s your chute a couple years ago:
No way! BG saw that too. It seemed like a nice to chance to say we made turns in the Yukon. Lots more to explore there, thats for sure! Snow was quite decent.
Michalhassi you have go to fulfill your dreams brother. You only have one life in the form in which you are in now. And now is the time to experience it’s capabilities. We all have obligations, but know is the time to make your alpinistic dreams a reality for yourself. Life is to short for regret.
Killer TR. That little buddy looks so stoked to see you guys. He’s like, “Do your brothers have some some beef jerky for me? I’d be uber stoked if you did.”
I second that 100% hoglord. The main reason I post is to get others fired up and motivated to get out there and go for it with all thier potential. Backcountry snowboarding has made such a positive difference in my life. Michalhassi, with some ambition and foresight you can make it happen. If you ever need guidance all of us here will help you. Thanks for viewing my post.
