We were up there on Sunday. That sucker’s filled to the brim with snow, minus the blocks from that wall you built.I’m leaving the keg sled at home this time. I measured a little over a mile of booting from the snow to the parking lot. Strap your board to your pack and don’t put it back on until you’re up in the burn.We headed up the Spur until it got a bit too firm: Looking down into the Eliot glacier drainage. This is a fun line: Looking up from the climber’s trail: Chronic Construction: Top of Polallie: Getting the last few turns in. Note the grassy ski trail in the background… Freezer is built: Easter eggs! April 15, 2014 at 10:46 pm #674963 nwboarder82 166 PostsJust got back from the A-frame today with Corydog and Cole. We were able to skin majority of the steep section of the spur. Snow was softer and colder the higher we went. However, it was starting to get slushy in the tree in the afternoon. Weather is supposed to be sunny and clear this weekend. April 16, 2014 at 4:57 pm #674964 Jefe009 675 PostsLooking forward to seeing everyone this weekend! I’ll be up there sometime Friday afternoon.www.splitlife.net April 16, 2014 at 9:36 pm #674965 nwboarder82 166 PostsAlmost forgot, I highly recommend someone to bring a latel for scooping out water if you’re staying in the A-Frame. I didn’t see one in the locked chest yesterday. Had a great time up on Hood and stoked to meet new people! If anyone’s looking to shred Central Oregon, get at me on the fb! Got some decent photos – this forum is too much of a PITA to post ’em…https://www.facebook.com/merk.somalia-Mark April 27, 2014 at 11:12 pm #674976 doganpc 28 PostsSo… It seems I left my Vibrams (five-fingers, the toe shoes) up at the A-Frame. Likely right on the end of the bench as I switched over to snowboard boots. If anyone happens to know if they were recovered I’d appreciate it. They were sorely missed while I was out in FL.Jason Just back from Hood to AT to Keys April 29, 2014 at 2:08 am #674977 cole 12 PostsReally bummed I couldn’t make it up there, came down with a cold at the end of the week and was hoping I could maybe sneak up late but it wasn’t in the cards (sorry about that — the forum was giving me some error that wouldn’t let me post until now). Hope you guys had a blast! Look forward to seeing everyone out there soon. April 29, 2014 at 6:57 pm #674978 iriecoyote 291 Posts May 3, 2014 at 9:06 pm #674979 doganpc 28 PostsSo my Poacher finally gave up. One of my crampon/binding removal tools lost 2 of its 4 tabs that keep it attached to the bottom of the binding. They knew their time was up, thankfully they waited till I was transitioning to boot mode to finally break… Literally, I finished strapping everything onto my pack for booting it down from Tilly Jane; looked down and saw the two small chunks of aluminium. While I wait to see what i’m going to do with the Poacher (it is sort of splitboarding history now) figured I’d do some researching on what to get next so I can take advantage of any end of season sale stuff… Wow, looks like I’ve got all my gear color coordinated after 3 years of assembling. Funny thing is the board i’m looking at getting fits into this as well… looking fly on the Mtn Guy?..:nononno:I was pretty much done with the Poacher anyhow. Spending so much more time inbounds on a nice rocker board really is what put the nail into the Poacher’s coffin. It is really, really, really damn difficult to justify a strenuous 6hr trek up the flank of a mountain only to have to stress on the ride down too. Heck, I didn’t actually do any boarding this year focusing more on trekking cause I didn’t want to bother with the ride anymore. Which wasn’t too bad, just different kind of a trip this year. Helped that I wanted to work Sunday (can’t buy new stuff if you don’t make some $$$) which was the big touring day from the looks of it. Also a big thanks to all the folks who brought such a wide variety of liquors to share! I wanted to hit up the Portland Toast event but couldn’t get a buddy to go with at the last minute… turns out all I needed to do was show up for splitfest! :thumpsup:Dogan Same weekend next year? May 4, 2014 at 12:44 am #674980 Jefe009 675 PostsGlad you made it up Jason! Cool to see so many people show up 3 years in a row. Good luck with that white room, I know several people who have those and they all like them.Might do an earlier weekend next year to set increase the likelihood of more snowpack down low… Bend homies are pushing for a central or Eastern OR location, so we’ll see… The North side of hood is classic tho.Thx again everyone! One for the books. Got plenty of awesome footage so watch out for yourselves in some edits soon… Specially you shirtless guys. You know who you are. :doobie:www.splitlife.net May 4, 2014 at 3:05 am #674981 96avs01 875 Posts @Jefe009 wrote:Might do an earlier weekend next year to set increase the likelihood of more snowpack down low… Bend homies are pushing for a central or Eastern OR location, so we’ll see.If this happens, my schedule will clear to make room…Mmmm, Boneyard! :guinness: :rock:165 Venture Divide/Spark Frankenburners/La Sportiva Spantiks 163W Jones Solution/Phantom Alphas/Dynafit TLT5s 162 FurbergChris Viewing 20 posts - 21 through 40 (of 41 total) ← 1 2 3 →You must be logged in to reply to this topic.
