Can we start a new one? Here goes…Friday, 10/7Light W wind, trace of graupel, and cold…60cm/2ft of medium density new snow above 10000′ in upper LCC, much less snow below that…some wind effect along ridges…it looked like the snow came in wet, a mixture of snow/rain, as evidenced by the 1cm crust at the ground…will this snow last through the next storm?…keep an eye on the places where it might stick around to become the January depth hoar layer. (Sorry no pictures from today.) October 7, 2011 at 11:50 pm #644089 Stagger Lee 242 PostsI was up at Alta from about noon ’till 2ish. Coverage on the reliable early season east facers can be ridden without hitting too many objects. However, this stoney forbidden fruit wasn’t quite ripe enough yet. Oh well. Luckily my buddy and I are masochists. October 8, 2011 at 1:58 am #644092 wasatch surf 979 PostsWent for a walk in BCC today. Ran into WOW, bullshitted about how much we hate october snow. The bro-brahs were really giving it to guardsmen’s pass today. Looked fun. Weather really fucked with the leaves. Saw moose, deer, grouse, and bobcat tracks. and one dude carrying a board towards reynolds  . Not much up there right now, but maybe he made it work. Here’s to a deep and safe season! :drinks: October 8, 2011 at 8:44 pm #644093 Snurfer 1448 PostsTook the pooch for a snow run up to Dog Lake this morning. Last nights low density snow was much improved over the previous wet heavy stuff and a joy to run through (e.g., Dry). Depths ranged from two to ten inches of fresh over the settled heavy stuff. The aspen carnage as a result of the wet heavy stuff is pretty bad in Millcreek, of course the mighty evergreens stood their ground.Despite some of you finding stoke among the sharks, I’m hoping this melts and we don’t have a repeat of ’09….. :nononno:Sorry no pics 🙁Shark Snowsurf Chuna Voile V-Tail 170 BC Voile One Ninety Five Spark R&D Arc October 10, 2011 at 12:12 am #644094 Snowvols 291 PostsI skinned up Flagstaff yesterday and here are a few pictures. It went way slower than expecting either due to the half marathon I ran an hour before heading out or the fact it is still early season. The snow was deeper than expected on South Southeast aspects. Was knee deep in most places. Only two other tracks were found, but I had to put the skinner up. I only went about half way up since I knew towards the top it was pretty rocky. It was a good time until I hit a shark fin about half way down and jacked my knee up. I should have been like everyone else and went to alta and now I know why everyone else did. The bushes are a killer. Got a couple face shots which is straight money for early October. Not great stoke since I was dolo, but still fun to be out.Looking at everyone at Alta Right before I dropped in. Super fun and deep except a few bushes. He even came down to the San Juans and did that to us! Weekday warriors :banghead: . More power to you. But its not like I crossed his tracks or changed my plans, so I guess I’m ok with it. Got to love the Juans, just don’t move down here Alex. October 11, 2011 at 7:23 am #644095 Alx88 42 PostsSorry guys, no 9-5 here :bananas: .. I’m open to job offers though, I’m well versed in environmental policy and writing. Until someone finds me a job, I’m gonna keep gettin’ it :doobie:Utah, it looks as though you like to roll solo alot, I’d love to hook up for some turns some day. And summersgone, no threat of me relocating to the Juans, unless Venture expands enough to need a professed environmentalist on their staff, but it’d be sweet to hook up for some Juan-slaughter in the near future. Now that that’s cleared, you can re-focus your prayers  towards snowfall! I’ll go back into hiding. :ninja: 😆Sorry for the thread derail. We’ll let you guys get back to partying. :disco: October 23, 2011 at 3:58 am #644098 KR 159 PostsUpdate on snow conditions in LCC…Southerly aspects are completely bare.Northerlies are holding 20-50cm between 9k and 11k. There was at stout crust (heat related?) about 10cm down at 10k. The snow on top has probaby trickled in from the latest passing cold fronts and a bit of wind. Not a whole lot of faceting going on… probably due to the warm-ish temperatures the last couple weeks.Overall, there is enough (but not ‘enough’) snow on the ground for major faceting to occur if we hit a cold snap. And this could be a season-long problem on the N above 9k.A couple pics from today:Good preseason lines, still rockyAnd, a rough profile at 10k on the north (maybe you can see that crust) October 23, 2011 at 4:32 am #644099 KR 159 Postsyo, i’ve been fiddling with this for almost an hour, and I can’t get my pictures to show up…I’ve got the pics uploaded to PicasaWeb. I’m copying the link, in the bottom right corner where it says ‘link’, and it begins with https://picasaweb.google…WTF!?! :banghead: October 26, 2011 at 5:50 pm #644100 KR 159 PostsYo! Is it just me, or do you all only see a red ‘X’ with the word ‘image’? Can’t figure out what’s going on. October 26, 2011 at 6:02 pm #644101 Snowvols 291 PostsI am not even seeing the Red X’s  October 26, 2011 at 6:04 pm #644102 HikeforTurns 1114 PostsQuote your original thread and look at the link, you need a link that has ” .jpg” at the end of it, that way you know it links to the image. Quote my response for the code.To get the URL of the image, I right clicked the image and went to properties (internet explorer here at work :banghead: ) and paste that into your tags. Then when you are posting click the Img icon at the top of the post. And make sure the end of the URL has a .jpeg or .gif or whatever file format you are using. You can always click preview first to make sure it worked.
