The Ultracraft is meant to be stiff but is that stiff in terms of splitboard stiffness?
How would a carbon ultracraft ride compared to a regular non-carbon 156 Hovercraft solid?

The Jones carbon Solution is supposedly very stiff. Apparently much more so than the regular Solution. My Ultracraft is pretty similar in ride feel to my regular Solution though. The carbon in the Carbon Solution is there for stiffness while the carbon in the Ultracraft is there for weight savings if I understand the design behind them correctly. The ride characteristics of the Ultracraft are pretty much like a conventional split in my experience. I have not ridden a normal Hovercraft though.

Hey man, thanks for the quick reply.
I notice you have a Burton Spliff which is what I’ve got and spent 50 days on.
Can you compare the Ultracraft to that in terms of weight differences? noticeable?
    Powder riding?
    Skinning, side hilling?

I can get the Ultracraft for about 1100usd, is it worth the money in your opinion?
I love the way a solid hovercraft rides fwiw and am fairly happy with the spliff

I actually find the Spliff to be pretty annoying. It seems way too short and unstable to me. It rides like a child’s board. I think I will keep it for my wife to ride. We have had a really crappy snow year here and I have only ridden the Solution and Ultracraft this season, and since it’s been so long since I was on the Spliff it is hard to do a good comparison since my other boards aren’t fresh in my mind anymore. In other years I would ride a different board every day and so have a firm basis for comparison, but that’s just not the case right now. All I can say is that the Ultracraft rides like a ‘normal’ board and not a midget sled, like the Spliff feels to me. I have not had any pow days on the UC. Just spring corn, windboard, crust, etc. It handles all that nicely. It tours well (side hilling, climbing, etc). The balance point is right at the touring brackets so it is not nose heavy as I had feared. Not sure I can offer other deep insights right now. I got the UC for long tours and brush bashing. It does that fine. I don’t miss the tail as I don’t ride switch much. I’d rate it as a good all-rounder that happens to be pretty light. Can’t say I really notice the weight difference much either since the Fitwells are heavier boots than my normal Diver X Burtons, but maybe if I had more days on other combos this year it would seem more obvious to me.

😆 midget sled, child’s board, clown toy – so funny… Keep em coming.
