Prior XTC AMF Split Wins Coveted Award!

WHISTLER, Canada – Whistler based Prior Snowboard Manufactory Ltd, known throughout the world as manufacturers of premium, handcrafted snowboard’s and skis, has been presented with the 2013 Backcountry Magazine Editor’s Choice award for their AMF XTC Carbon Splitboard for winter 2013.

In the fall of 2009 Prior introduced, what was then the world’s first twin tip splitboard, the AMF Splitboard. It was immediately recognized by industry publications as being not only innovative, but also for being an incredibly versatile ride as it allowed freestyle inspired riders to take their inbounds style of riding into the backcountry and do so under their own power. The AMF Splitboard has since gone on to become one of Prior’s top selling shapes with a growing legion of backcountry riders adopting it as their go to board.

In the fall of 2011, Prior introduced a new, premium lightweight construction to their entire splitboard line and select ski line. The new construction, called XTC Carbon not only reduced each model’s average weight by 15% or half a kilogram, but it also retained the downhill performance that Prior customers have come to expect. To backcountry riders less weight in their boards means more energy to burn on the way down or more laps in a day and therefore more enjoyment to be had in a day’s riding.

In February of 2012 Prior submitted the AMF XTC Carbon Splitboard to Backcountry Magazine for their annual gear guide tests. The results were outstanding with many testers giving the board the highest marks in each category and at the end of the tests they awarded the AMF XTC Carbon Splitboard their coveted Editor’s Choice award.

This will mark the 3rd occasion that the AMF split has earned this award in the last 4 years which further cement this model as a true category killer and a classic shape in the Prior line.

Handcrafted with the same quality materials and high standards as the other Prior splitboards, the AMF XTC Carbon Split is made with a sandwich sidewall construction, has a full aspen/maple wood core, proprietary XTC Carbon woven fabric, sintered graphite diecut base, UHMW sidewalls and full wrap Rockwell 48 hardness steel edges around both halves.

As with all Prior boards the Prior AMF XTC Carbon Splitboard is available in a variety of topsheet and base graphics and is hand built Prior’s own custom factory in Whistler. For more information on the AMF XTC Splitboard and the rest of Prior’s premium line visit their website www.priorsnow.com
