WHISTLER, Canada – Aug 19, 2014 – Whistler based Prior Snowboard Manufactory Ltd, known throughout the world as manufacturers of premium, handcrafted snowboards  has been presented with the 2015 Backcountry Magazine awards and 2015 Splitboardmag awards. Prior is proud to announce the 2015 BC Mag Editor’s Choice award for the Brandywine Splitboard and the 2015 BC Mag Gear Guide Select for the AMF Splitboard.

On top of this, Prior is also proud to announce the 2015 Splitboardmag Best Freestyle award for the AMF Splitboard. The Brandywine Split made its entry into the Prior splitboard line in 2009 and was the first women’s specific splitboard. This high performance, directional Freeride board draws a smooth, stable and fast line through all snow conditions. With a narrow waist and softer flex than the BC Split, the Brandywine Split allows Women to drive the board harder and maximize energy transfer for the best performance possible. The Brandywine Split also won the BC Mag Editors’ Choice award in 2012.

The AMF Split is Prior’s original true twin design and entered the Prior fleet in 2007. It was the first twin splitboard to enter the market. With its revamped nose/tail shape, the AMF creates less drag and swing weight than ever before. Accompanying that with a tighter turning radius and our Hybrid Rocker Profile, the AMF Split is the ideal tool for pushing freestyle into the backcountry. Its symmetrical shape promises maximum performance for ambidextrous riders, it’s no surprise that the AMF Split has been the factory staff choice for multiple years running. The AMF Split won the BC Mag Editor’s Choice Award in 2010, 2011 and in 2013.

In February of 2014, Prior submitted the Brandywine XTC Carbon Split, and the AMF XTC Carbon Split to Backcountry Magazine for their annual gear guide tests. The results were outstanding as BC Mag decided to include them all in their coveted gear guide for 2015. In February of 2014, Prior also submitted the AMF XTC Carbon Split and the BC XTC Carbon to Splitboardmag for their annual splitboard testing.

Also here, the Prior boards excelled with many positive comments as a result. The AMF Split shined through with the Best Freestyle award in its pocket. Handcrafted with the same quality materials and high standards as the other Prior splitboards and skis, these five Prior products are made with a sandwich sidewall construction, full aspen/maple wood core, proprietary XTC Carbon or Quadraxial Fibreglass, 4000 sintered graphite diecut base, UHMW sidewalls and full wrap Rockwell 48 steel edges. As with all Prior products, they are available in a variety of locally designed topsheet and base graphics and are hand built in Prior’s own custom factory in Whistler. Since 1990, Prior has been relentlessly Refining the Ride. Handcrafting high-performance snowboards for more than two decades has given Prior the knowledge and skills to consistently produce boards and skis that stand up to the test of time, and the rigorous performance needs of the most dedicated local riders and elite athletes.

Shape, length, sidecut, flex, weight, camber, and material composition are all carefully considered and tested in Prior’s custom factory at the bottom of Whistler Mountain (North America’s biggest winter resort). Prior’s un-rivalled access to R&D leads to continuous enhancements thru its full lineup handcrafted boards and skis. Throughout its history Prior has been driven by the singular goal of making the best boards and skis possible.
