I can see using it a lot for sidecountry or even inbounds at Alpine Meadows. I use one of my splits a lot in bounds. There are plenty of quick traverses that would be great to half transition and side step or traverse (no skins) rather than fully transition or posthole. Lock down allows that.

Sunrise in TD is a good suggestion, but may still be pretty low tide. Another suggestion would be NW aspect of Castle. Nice tour in, not too steep plus you can kick back at Peter Grubb for lunch. It’s all above 8K too which would help with the recent snow level. The hut is just under 8K.

This…some of the trails should be dry, the east shore likely is, Sawmill in Truckee is low enough to not have a lot of snow. Flyfishin’ might be good too…

I’ve seen a kiddo solid board though this year as his daughter is rockin’ one @ Squaw (my daughter is on the same team) and they look pretty durable in comparing this years low tide wear/damage to her board versus my daughter’s chicklet.

noaa.nws.gov, but I am very biased :wink:. I like Byran at opensnow.com for the Tahoe forecasts. Between the forecasts discussions, sat coverage, climatology at NWS Sacto and NWS Reno and opensnow that covers a lot. But I like to poke around other weather places like http://squall.sfsu.edu/crws/jetstream.html for jetstream maps too.

Looking better, keep it coming! I need to make the decision on Sunday whether to bring the split or not, so I’ll be watching this storm closely!

Sad, but could happen to anyone anytime, pre-season or not. Sounds like they can regulate during “pre-season” operations, but not before? Hopefully they will put a policy in place like Sugar Bowl then.

I think pics and general location are more than OK.
