I’m still around Nelson this winter. I’ll be riding the Whitewater backcountry Friday thru Monday and I am definitely into going to other places when I can. It looks like there will be an awesome crew out of Nelson this winter.

Monday works best for me. You shouldn’t need too much gear for this route. An ice axe and crampons might be necessary- wet November snowfalls can set up pretty hard. Yeah, I’m still in. The coming long weekend is looking promising as far as the weather goes. The snow level is hovering around 1700-1800 metres which means the road to Gibson Lake is still snow free. Whether there is enough snow for a decent ride on the glacier is a different question- but it’s still worth a look to me.

It’s Coldsmoke weekend too…it’ll be good time to get away from the skiers at Wh20.

Soon- this month. I’ve got a couple snowmobilers friends of mine from Salmo who can tow us up about 22 km, that would put us about 2.5 km to the hut. They will then pick us up as well. If we can get four together it should cost about $100 each for the tow in/out plus $10 each a night for the hut.
