pretty much. I find my zzeros ride way better with out the inside rivets. maybe one day I’ll get around to a nice clean fix like that. I agree with karkis on the forward lean with the zzeros. can be fixed though. if I were to buy boots today I would not buy zzeros. but as they say, run what you brung.

I have said before that every year I splitboard the more time i spend in ski mode. though that may have leveled out a bit these days. I do have more fun skiing low angle stuff or short shots then snowboarding them for the most part.

a lot of younger snowboarders have never skied, and I think this is a huge disadvantage. most snowboarders in their mid 30’s or older have most likely spend some time of skis. I started on skis, both XC and alpine, till my mid teens when it was clear that snowboarding was much more fun. skiing in the early 90’s was in a sad state. a couple years ago I spent a few days on the hill skiing , even took my level 1 ski instructor. it helped a lot.

i may not “shred” but some times it feels like i am. does that count. 😆

there is a lot of dick swinging in this thread about being fit and being the first to the top. ignore that shit. fitness is essential, but at a certain point its all genetics. some folks are going to be fast and some not so fast. besides a lot of time your keeping the group together, cause your a group and all.

dial in your transitions, have a system and do the same thing in the same order, every time. you wont be faster the a fast skier at this, but you can easily be faster them most.

learn to ski your split. not just pizza down a slope but shred it in two plank, trees, mank, crud, the works.

those two thing are the equalizer.

need deep skinning, laying trenches on steep fall line, and walking down hill on anything under 20 degrees and digging cars out in the dark.

    I use something like this

    http://www.watsongloves.com/catalogdetails-work-300I–Tough_Guy.htm.

you can get a three pack for under 20$. not the best in high winds, but good for most skinning needs.

Scott is also a man on the large side. or at least compared to my skinny self. I top out at 160 pounds and dont ride a board shorter then 164. though I do have a very old Scott Newsome board from when he rode for Atlantis which is a 157 tapered. as they say, run what you brung.

been plugging trees in the ground since mid april which brought all other forms of fun to a halt. tomorrow will be the last day of planting season.

pre season was good. a few spring snaps of wheels and such.

putting the bags away for a bit, back to being trailer trash and sheepdogging for the summer. got a new bike on the ways as well. its going to be fun.

we had talked about it while heading up the Anniversary glacier in the sun. then we were over taken by Alex Wigley et al with the same objective, add in the weather and we stuck to the original plan. I went on his blog to see how their trip turned out only to find out they snaked us on the million dolor as well.

I am starting a blog called one step behind Alex Wigley. FFS 😉

seeing you go from crawling around in the creek at the end of the day to leading the skin track on rogers run was pretty cool. wish we could have rode with you guys while at rogers pass.

I’ve got fresh mud on bike, a pot of stew on the stove, a glass of wine beside me, school work on the lap top, two dogs sleeping in the corner, gas in the truck and a tour lined up for tomorrow. hows that for life style. 😆
