    Hi CO folks,

Does anyone know if it’s ok or legal to camp in the Ashcroft area winter parking/trialheads this time of year?

I’ve spent the night there in the back of my pickup under a camper shell a few times, arriving after dark, but that’s pretty stealthy. This year we’ll be using a pop-up truck camper, so not stealthy at all. This thing seems…[Read more]

    Hi Tex,

Training collars are a great suggestion. My lab Henry couldn’t be trusted off-leash when we rescued him, and after a few months of frustrating hikes, I purchased a training collar with both “beeping” and shocking functions. Starting out by hiding in my house, I was able to train my dog to associate the beeping with “finding me” and…[Read more]

Bring back the cube!!!!! Maybe add a fifth side for those wanting finer increments?
After using the cube the current system is just too fiddly for impatient curmudgeons like me. It’s my only gripe about my Burners :twocents:

I was in the Tushars a month ago and both the FS road and the traverse from the ski area to Big John Flat had plenty of coverage. I expect that the road has some melted out sections now, but the traverse is shorter and I am sure still has plenty of cover.

Awesome. That’s exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!!

Also, this thread is full of so much radness :headbang: Thanks for sharing!

Also Also, It’s probably bad form to ask for beta, since I’m lazy and don’t post much, but has anyone been in the Tushars lately? I’m heading into the Snorkeling Elk yurt on Monday and I’m kinda curious about coverage along the route into Big John Flat.

I spotted fresh cougar tracks all over the place in Ophir canyon back on MLK day. My dog loves that place because there are bones littered up and down each drainage.

Then, the following Friday, I was touring up in City Creek found this in my skin track on my way back down to my bicycle.
I’m not sure how closely it followed me, but I did find…[Read more]

Hey Dan – Nope I was riding lifts with my wife. I’ve been meaning to reconnect with everyone on here but have been a bit of a weird-o loner for some reason.

I’m hoping to catch up and shred with everyone at splitfest, but I broke a toe this weekend. Not sure how that’s gonna work…[Read more]

Yes, MEJ, Mesowest is the best :headbang:, but for some reason the SNOTEL at Rocky Basin in Settlement Canyon (Elev: 8900 ft; Latitude: 40.44; Longitude: -112.22
) doesn’t show up using Mesowest. It’s been doing that for a while so I just bookmarked the link I shared.

Edit: Looks like it’s working today 😳

FYI I had to play with the…[Read more]

I too was in the La Sals last week. Spent 3/31 – 4/3 at the Tomasaki Hut. Definitely the shittiest hut I’ve ever stayed in. We lucked out with one great powder day and even rode settled pow and Slick Rock in one day. As usual, I took very few pictures

Obs: ~150 cm of snow near Geyser Pass on Wed. Snowline was still well below…[Read more]
