  • Hey.. late to the party but oh well. I am trying to figure out what hardboot to get. I went to EVO in Seattle and told them what I wanted to do. My US shoe size is 10-10.5. I think this translates into 28-28.5 mondo. I tried on the Atomic Backlands CL Pro 28.5 and they were pretty comfy. The salesman took out the liner and measured 3cm with…[Read more]

  • Hi, thanks for the response. When I demoed the 159 in March, I honestly forget what the skins were that Weston provided me but I remember we swapped the left and right tail clips to get a fit. Maybe they were the spark/G3 skins. Anyway, I have to buy new skins for the Japow because my current skins are the Jones/Pomoca nomad Skins with quick…[Read more]

  • Last season I used my coronavirus stimulus check to buy a Weston 164cm Japow swallowtail, but it didn’t come with skins. I demoed the 159cm in March and used spark skins with the tail hooks swapped to grab onto the swallowtail but it didn’t work too great. Does anyone have any advice for what skins to buy for a swallowtail split?

  • I purchased one of those yellowish rossis on sale last year and noticed it has the notches in the tail for a quick tension tail clip. Can I use the Jones nomad quick tension tail clip skins with this split? I read that the Jones come preshaped. Is that really true? I have a 167 Magtek. Which jones size would work for me? Is there a better skin…[Read more]

  • So just to ask again, what is a good liner to replace the Fitwell liner with? I have intuition liners from my K2 Thraxis boots. They don’t have their own laces as they depend on the Boa Conda system, but could they work in the Fitwell?

  • Hi. I will be going to Whitefish MT with a couple of friends next month (late February). We will be there for just 3 days. We all want to bring our splitboards to do some touring on the middle day. I know the uphill policy on Big Mountain is very friendly, but since we plan to ride lifts for 2 days and tour for 1 day, I’d rather tour outside…[Read more]

  • When I first started splitboarding I used the voile slider plates, and while I hated them, I loved the compatible voile crampons because they could work in two positions. One setting is where it is fixed to the bottom of the binding and another where it is unfixed and mainly travels in the same plane as the boards. But after 5 years of suffering…[Read more]

  • What’s the return policy on these?

I actually bought the petzl Irvis hybrid semis for deeluxe spark XVs (haven’t paired them yet) and was told the spark’s heel was too wide for semis, and was directed to the fitwell. So anyway, will fitwell accept a return on a boot that has been used a bit to get the fit?

Also, if the fitwell liner is bad,…[Read more]

  • Hi. There are three models of Spark XV, there is the TF (thermo flex), PF (performance flex) and the TPF (thermo premium flex). It is obvious the TPF is the best liner, but what about the TF and PF? Which one of these is better? I assumed the PF was better, but I am seeing that the TF is priced higher than PF on a lot of sites.

  • I wish one was made in the 165-170cm range, for us heavier riders.

  • thanks for the tips. I do have Ibex crampons. Sometimes they cause a lot of friction though. I wish they had a fixed position like Voiles. I already wrote to Spark about this and am probably not the only one.

  • great sale on these today!…[Read more]

  • Hi, I’m planning a haute route trip and while reviewing gear with my buddies, the question of rocker came up. Obviously this will be great in powder, but what about in crud and icy condition. Or more importantly, how does full rocker affect skinning? Doesn’t it make it more difficult, than traditional camber?

  • Sorry I don’t remember what I was going to say when my message cut out. So I’ve used the bc revelator a few more times since then, once on the Bruce trail at Stowe VT and latest on Mt Marcy NY.

For Bruce I used my solid board all day and then switched to the voilĂ© at the end of the day for the run down the Bruce to the Matterhorn bar. I decided…[Read more]

  • Does anyone know if split packages can be rented in the areas around Mt Washington? I am bringing some bootpacker friends to TUX for the weekend, and I want to expose them to splitting on our off day, on Doublehead in the Jackson XC center. I read that bootpacking and snowshoeing is frowned upon. It would be cool to get everyone skinning.

  • Thanks for the response. I went ahead and bought the BC and gave it a go this past weekend.

I started with another group that does not have the scales and they put their skins on right away. To be in sync I also put on my skins, so didn’t really get to use the traction pattern like I was hoping. I didn’t notice the scales on the ride down…[Read more]

  • Today I bent one of the baseplates climbing Teardrop at Stowe. It bent at the hinge of the climbing bar. I didn’t realize I had this problem till I tried to convert to snowboard mode and couldn’t get the binding all the way across the pucks. Suffice to say, it was a super shifty ride down. But, has this ever happened to anyone else?

    I learned…[Read more]

  • Thanks for the in depth review of the fishscale tech. It is definitely feels like a smaller niche in an already small niche sport.

When you say back and forth perpendicular to the fall line, do you mean side to side? Do the boards slide left and right, while climbing without the skins?

You also mentioned that the quads get a stout workout to…[Read more]

  • I’m in the market for a new split. I have had a prior Kyber 170 and don’t really like it. I noticed the Voile BC has fish scales underneath. I ride in the east and sometimes we have some slow rollers to climb over. Besides the fishy feature, does anyone have any other experience with this board? Does it ride just like the standard revelator?…[Read more]
